No. The lagna lord is always a functional benefic, or neutral at worst. This

person with Saturn in Cancer wouldn't take his eyes off himself, so to

speak... very inwardly focused.

Not for lagna that he will aspect, and yet he remains the 2nd lord and a

functional malefic, besides being the natural malefic. The malfeasance

is somewhat less as he owns a Kendra being a Malefic.

There are other factors too, which of course are difficult to discern in the

absence of a chart. For example, if without benefic aspects, the spouse

could also be sickly, infirm, be domineered by the native and rather bereft

of longevity. If Moon, being dispositor of Cancer, is bright and aspected by

Mercury, she could be lewd and lecherous on the sly, etc. These bets are off

in a fem chart where the spouse's indicator is the 8th.

 

On the whole, it's quite pointless to ask for, or indeed attempt,

prognostications based on just one planet's placement.

Don't know about you but this is quite the sort of thing that pops up here

and there in astro classics making me wonder if they're serious.

 

Cancer hosts Saturn for 30 months once in 30 years. Capricorn gets to be the

lagna each day for 2 hours. Simple statistics would indicate potentially

rather large numbers of births and ergo I wouldn't want to generalize about

chastity or fortune at all, other things not considered.

Dear Ramapriya,

I think the logic of this yoga is that Saturn gets directional strength

in the 7th house and has a tendency to protect the house it occupies or

at the very least not harming the house. Saturn is also said to give

least troubles or even good results the stronger it is unlike other Papa

grahas.

I agree. It's also one of the reasons why the oft-maligned Saturn exalts in

the 7th of the natural zodiac.

 

My demur however is in establishing set-in-stone inferences from just one

planetary position to the apparent exclusion of all else. The ones more

learned may indeed be correct but as of now, I'd prefer to test the

principle over as many cases I can lay my hands on.
