Guest guest
Dear devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga. I would like to give a brief history of Radha Dixit Mataji, a manager at Walmart, who was instrumental in us getting permission from Walmart for distributing Srila Prabhupada's books. Her story brings out the importance and benefits of collecting contact details of interested people during Sankirtan. Radha Dixit Mataji met the devotees at George Brown convention centre during the Janmashtami book distribution in August. There she bought some books and one devotee took her contact details for further follow-up. Later, the contacts were distributed to different preaching coordinators and she was invited to attend the Northwest Bhakti Vriksha program since she lived close to that area. She started attending the Bhakti Vriksha programs regularly and then the temple Sunday Feast programs. She and her family were cultivated and their devotion was nurtured in the regular association of devotees, by chanting japa and reading Srila Prabhupada's books. As her relationship with the devotees at the program grew, we came to know that she was working as a manager at Walmart. This led to our discussing the possibilities of distributing books at Walmart. If that devotee at George Brown Janmashtami book distribution would not have taken her contact details and subsequently followed-up, this opportunity for Walmart Book distribution might have evaded us for a long time. It is encouraging to note, though, that some Sankirtan devotees are dilligent in taking the contact details of interested people. Lord Caitanya and Srila Prabhupada are sending so many souls to the book table. If we take out just 1 minute of our time to take the contact details of an interested person, it can go a long way in opening doors to distributing hundreds of Srila Prabhupada's books, as we see in case of Radha Dixit Mataji. Srila Prabhupada says: "This boy is a new boy, and he might have so many ideas within his brain and if you can train him for your purpose he will be a great service. We may always expect that we get always untamed boys and girls, and we have to train them up...Our whole program is to train the untrained..." Letter to Satsvarupa 06/13/68 We all know that these souls who come in contact with Srila Prabhupada's books are very special souls. These prospective devotees can be invited to participate in various temple programs. We can always extend ourselves a little bit more by taking their contact details and making arrangements that they can hear and chant in the association of devotees. "The important thing is to make arrangements that they hear and chant. That will make your preaching successful. Once they begin chanting then automatically they will want to follow other rules and regulations, attend aroti, take prasada., etc." - Letter to Tusta Krishna Swami, 9 January 1976 I would like to make this humble appeal to all Sankirtan devotees: Let us be diligent in taking the contact details of these special souls for futher cultivation. If you are already doing it, then all glories to your wonderful service. By doing this, Srila Prabhupada will send us many wonderful souls like Radha Dixit Mataji for expanding Lord Caitanya's Sankirtan movement. Thank you very much for your patience in reading through...
