Cultivate a Positive Mind-Set Through Meditation

You have the ability to create your own mind-set. Whether your attitude is positive or negative, is up to you. The ability to change your environment, circle of friends, and attitude, is within your control.

Just like a computer absorbs raw data, so does your mind.

Within your mind a culture, within itself, has grown. Many people feel like they have no control of their own mind, because this culture has become negative. The negativity is a result of past experiences, being in a negative environment, or being under the influence of unconstructive ideas.

Similar to a computer virus, you have to identify it quickly, to avoid letting it spread within your mind. You can also pass this virus of negative thinking to people around you. As a result you are spreading negative energy around, like “weeds in a field.”

Much like a farmer, you cultivate too. The energy in your mind is the crop, and it is up to you, whether it is weeds or wheat. If you have a farm and let a field take care of itself; you will be lucky to have any kind of a crop, from it. This is the same with the energy within your mind.

You have to option to pick quality seeds: Information, in the form of books, eBooks, DVD’s, CD’s, lectures, courses, workshops, and seminars. This is learning, for the sake of self-improvement, and it results in a positive mind-set.

However, your work is not finished, because you must still reinforce the lessons, and keep everything in a focused order. This might be compared to fertilizing, watering, and “weeding the mind.” You have to work at it continually or the weeds will grow back. This, my friend, is meditation, and one of the reasons why we meditate, in the first place.

Meditation is controlled focus on an object, thought, or task without judgment. This process makes it possible to look at all situations objectively.. You can find solutions, turn negative situations into positive learning experiences, and create your own positive mindset. As a result of this you will make new friends, reach goals, handle problems easily, and develop an indomitable spirit.

Remember the last time you made an accomplishment. That feeling, and that ability, are within all of us. It is a formula for success, but you have to take action. Action is something that the vast majority of people will never take. Learn to separate yourself from “the pack,” through education, meditation, and action.

Sat Nam,

I just wanted to say thank you for writing this message. It came on

the day when I was feeling very low because of the negative energy of others.

It is hard not to get pulled down into their dramas and chaos and not let it

affect your feelings and energy. Sometimes its a daily struggle to keep the

negativity away.. Any other suggestions for keeping the negativity from taking

over? Also, who wrote this? Thanks, again.

Peace and Light to All,

Sat Nam Zebra Trac:

May I ask why you get involved in other people's negativity. Why not walk

away from it and meditate in a quiet place(it can be a closet, an empty

bathroom etc)until you wash away the negativity with your positive meditation and

finding that peaceful place within yourself. With practice it may only take a

few minutes.

If it is family, yes, it is hard to get away from it but frankness with

family members, friends, colleagues in a diplomatic way can waken them to what they

may be causing and you have done something positive to enlighten them.

Please find that peaceful space within you so you can learn to combat

negativity.

Heartfully

Teresa

Sat Nam,

Not taking on another's negativity involves containing our emotional energy. I offered suggestions to do so in my last NMBeing newsletter #!28 which comes to everyone registered for the free on line classes. If you did not get it, back issues are found on www.yogatech.com ezine button. Soon I will send out another NMBeing which will have more guidelines. To send a blank email to nmbeing- I hope you are all reading these and practicing your KY with these touchstones in mind. Your practice will be much deeper and rewarding.

Containing and using our emotional energy for ourselves and not letting it get ensnarled in other's emotional energy (either by interferring with someone else's energy or letting theirs interfer with ours, or both!) is a serious lesson in consciousness that takes time being with ourselves. When we sit with our own energy and feel it in our body on a daily basis, be with it, love it and let it teach us we become emotionally mature and empowered.

Blessings,

Sat Nam Mitar Kaur,

another suggestion that you could try is to work on

strengthening your aura and your arc line, they act as

powerful filters (:

also consider strengthening your naval center, the

very core of your being...when one has a strong naval

center you are able to say "NO!" when you need to &

"YES!" to yourself..AND...you can recognize that these

are "NOT" your issues & ulimately not be affected by

other peoples SHTUFF (as I call it,smiles)

there is also a wonderful book out called "the four

agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz

it is an awesome book(its been around for awhile) that

is a very simple read yet it has a powerful message...

also, when your naval center is strong you can have

more of an open heart center & feel compassion &

empathy for these people without getting caught up in

the drama...ahhhh

something to also keep in mind is that people can only

take as much power away from you as you are willing to

give them...smiles

in loving kindness Jiwan Shakti Kaur
