Guest guest
Namaste` all and J A I M A A! For some reason I am prompted to post on the japa discussion. Did not think I had anything to add. Curious. Jai Maa. My experience is that I can and do do japa when driving. For me, since absorbtion can happen pretty easily with japa, it is not always safe. I have found myself lost many times...having missed exits and such. Like Nandaji and others, I do, however, have a lot of driving in my week, sometimes 14-16 hours, so car japa is a good thing. Certainly better than some of the other day dreaming I could be doing. And in a busy work week, it might be the only way to complete the sankalpa. I am moved, however, to share that when I have allowed myself the time to do japa when walking in nature (first to clear the mind) and then to follow that with sitting in front of Devi Durga or another Murti that the japa becomes a jumping off place, or should I say a desolving place. There is no counting involved. All movement ceases. I have been know to get frozen holding my mala in the air. The blessings of this far outweigh when I am trying to simultaneously listen in a meeting or drive and do japa. I mean no criticism, as I also find that kind of japa meaningful and helpful, but just, please sisters and brothers, sometimes, even once per week, bless your sadhana with some sitting japa so it becomes ajapa. I would also say that my experience is of the mantra taking it's own speed, sometimes halting until my mind settles, then very very fast, and then slowing to nothing. These differences become more noticable when I do long sessions. Sometimes it takes the mind a while to settle. Jai Maa Om Shantih
Guest guest
Oh thank you so much for reminding me to get OUT.. Been to cold to do so but better now. Got one more email to read then going on a walk. We live on a beautiful dirt road surounded by forest. Normally that is where japa is done on road and under Grandfather tree. Cold weather comes and get so disconnected because stuck inside. You are so correct, so, outside is where japa will be done today. Guest guest
That was very refreshing. Took a long walk and did japa going and coming back Did puja under Grandfather tree, He's so huge. The little birds where my bell in just the right places then the crows came and cawed at closeing calisa. It was so wonderful to feel the breeze & to look up at this masive tree when reciting the puja. It was like being at the feet of Shiva in all His glory. Nature will enjoy the prashad & that makes it special. Meditation and prayes we such a wave of joy out there. It's like all of nature rose up in prayer and worship & even in thanks giving. Then it passed the prayers in the wind to the Universe. Had a small lunch with nature and then back on the road to do more japa. Will surtainly take advantage of these warm days in the future. Thank your so much for the shuv. In humble gratitude, Debi Debra McDaniel <student61754 > wrote: Oh thank you so much for reminding me to get OUT.. Been to cold to do so but better now.
