Guest guest
Hi! I haven't begun the practice yet, but I've been repeating the mantra informally at various times during the day. Today I had to go to the store for groceries. On the way I was repeating the mantra, actually I was repeating it rather feverishly in the hope it would afford me protection on the way to and from the store (we had snow last night and the temperature has been hovering around freezing all day). I got there OK, and I was walking across the parking lot when I stopped to let a car go by. The car stopped too, and I off-handedly waved her on, but when I looked up at the driver she was smiling at me and waving at me to cross in front of her. I smiled and crossed, the mantra still playing in my thoughts, but for some reason I began to smile. I put my head down an tried to concentrate on making my way into the store across the icy pavement, but the smile only got bigger - and it wouldn't go away! I walked into the store, head down and still smiling, my heart strangely bubbling with joy, and trying desperately not to look like an idiot. I don't know, I rarely smile like that, the kind of smile that splits your face in two, and it just wouldn't leave. I did finally manage to get control of my face, but the feeling of joy stayed with me for some time. It can only have been the mantra. Jai Maa!
