Guest guest
ll HARE RAM ll Dear friends, How weight and size of Gemstone should we wear? This matter is so confusing now a days. There are different thoughts about the same, according to me 5 to 7 carat Gemstone of good quality is quite enough for one but flawless, transparent and clear Gemstones of such weight are quite costly that are not affordable for each person. Therefore one should purchase 2 to 4 pieces of small size Gemstones of good quality that become quite cheaper in comparison to big size and get fixed them in a ring making the suggested total weight in place of one Gemstone as we use in Diamond and Navratna Gemstone rings because to reach the rays of Gemstone up to skin is quite enough except Coral,Pearl etc that are comparetively cheaper and touch to skin is needed. Guest guest
This is a topic with which I have personal experience. I am yoga therapist and Ayurvedic practitioner. I have used gems to help my clients with many issues. Most of the stones I have used are not even precious stones but semi precious tumbled stones. I have used carnelian to help with endometriosis and issues surrounding the uterus. My client had actually taped the stone to the spot where she had pain and noticed that in one week twenty years of suffering had reduced immensely. I have used jade placed over the heart chakra for those with sorrow and lack of courage and one of my clients just wrote to me yesterday to let me know that it actually got rid of her heart burn. Gems are amazing. We can even use them with marma or pressure pint massage. We can use them with mantra and pranayama and see effects of release of old emotions that were impossible to get rid of in just one session. They are one of my favourite tools to use in helping people. They have prominence in all Vedic sciences - yoga and ayurveda and in healing modalities around the world. The more I study healing sciences the more I realize the value of energy. Gems help to heal the prism or aura of the self. Mandakini Machiraju - Bharat Hindu Astrology Tuesday, January 16, 2007 7:37 AM Re: Re: Weight and Size of Gemstone Namaskaar Sri Shashie Small gemstones work as fine as big gemstones. It is only a notion that people live by, that only bigger gemstones work. Anything in your intimate zone is connected to your prana and changes the aura. I have personally used gemstones as small as 1.4 carats to get their effects. Many of my friends, clients, and others have benefited too from small gemstones. Many people think that only clear stones work. If that is true, then Opal should not work nor should Pearl work. I have worked with many crystal healers and they use tumbled stones to heal. All tumbled stones are fully included. They aren't flawless or clear. Take a fully included Emerald and place it on the heart chakra, your emotions will stabilize. They work! A gemstone in a natural state is a rough. It is cut and polished by human beings. The flaw of the stones therefore, refer to human beings categorization of assessment of value of a gemstone based on marketability of the said gem. The inclusions in gemstones should not be seen as flaws, but as inclusions. These are natural inclusions. There is nothing wrong with them. In fact, they aid in the identification of the gemstone. So people who cannot afford "Inclusion Free-IF" gemstones can go in for Very Slightly included, slightly included, etc. gemstones. Moreover, each gemstone is separate. Two different Emeralds will give different results, even when both are Inclusion-Free stones. This really is something we all need to study. I wish we had an apparatus with which we could study auric changes by keeping gemstones around a person. Puranas and its text is meant for a certain understanding, that is related to understanding of the Vedas. Moreover, it is a cryptic text where analogies are given to understand the passages of the Vedas well. The correct understanding of Garuda Purana is paramount before we can take its quotes for gemstone purposes. The above paragraphs are purely my thinking and I do not wish to impose or propose this thinking to anyone. Everyone is free to have their own conclusions and kindly do not debate the above with me. Guest guest
Dear Mr. Shekhar, I beg to differ that you can use smaller pieces of the gemstones to get the same result as from a 5 carat stone. In my practice it does not work at all. It is more ornamental than anything else. The thumb rules are used in Stone prescription. There is hardly any classical astrological basis for Gemstone remedy except in Ayurveda and Puranas. So the weight has to be decided as per the knowledge passed down from people who have used them. Yes 5 carat becomes expensive for flawless gems. I would say go for 5 carat of gem with some minor flaws rather than go for smaller pieces. They just do not work. This I have dealt in my book"BOOK OF GEMSTONES" published by Sagar Publications, New Delhi. If you lay hadns upon this book...you can read the relevant chapter. Guest guest
Dear Pathakji, There are references to how gems are to be used in Puranas and samhitas. They do not prescribe any weight being the minimum weight. There are also hints in the local practices at certain festivals. May I know the source for the prescription of weight on gems. I may sound a sceptic but I have not seen an astrologer prescribing a 5 carat Diamond to a jataka. Do you not think that gems with flaws would point towards a tatwa other than one sought to be balanced. I am certain you must have based your opinion on some classical reference and would be obliged if you could point me to it. Regards, Chandrashekhar. Guest guest
Dear Chandrashekhar Sir, Narada Puran prescribes use of gems for specific uses. Diamond is exception and one carat is prescribed. Rest all are usually prescribed in the range of 4 to 5 carats. Actually traditional astrologers prescribe through the system of Savaya. Means..they precribe 4.25 or 5.25 rattis...which amounts to between 4 to 5 carats. As I said earlier, there is no classical astrological basis for Gemstone prescription. No Astrology classic has told about use of gemstone. Even Parshara has prescribed other remedies not gemstones. Though I am not a Vedic expert but whatever I have read of Puranas, I find no mention about weight of gems. This very thing made me write about this system in the book mentioned. It deals with the way I prescribe and I feel the system discussed in the book is scientific but uses traditional method of deciding the weight. The source is learning through interacting with astrologers who have been prescribing it for years and then after testing with many of my own clients. Regarding Navratna lockets etc. discussed by Sh. Shashi, they are ornamental in nature. Indian Women wear them all the time in their earrings as well as rings. But they still do not derive any benefit connected with any of the stones. Actually, in my practice, I have been asking people to remove Gemstones and then many of their problems go away any way. Navamsha shows subtle aspects of the operation of a planet. You can not strengthen a planet which is acting malefic for you. The best is to propitiate it through Puja rather than stregthen it. Thus looking at running Dasha and Navamsha indicates exact picture about a particula stone.ThoughSh. Shashi has every right to disagree and have his own views which I appreciate much. I have used dynamic prescription with great benefits depending upon Dasha and at times antardasha for many persons. The system of prescription that stones for Lagna lord, 5th lord or 9th house lord are always benefic...is totally ridiculous in my opinion I have seen numerous prescriptions based on this going haywire as the person prescribing did not look at the Navamsha or the dasha running. Above all, I have learnt that Gemstones do not change your karma and hence destiny. They affect your environment and the best benefits available through gems are in terms of health benefits and improvements and at times change of outlook which makes you cope with adversity better. This is my humble opinion and I do not mean to offend anyone or anybody's way of prescribing of gems as long as they work well. If you are spiritually evolved person then you do not need horoscopes to predict future or prescribe gemstones. It is normal people like me who need to study charts and then decide on the gemstones. I hope you will appreciate my viewpoint in relevant context. If you meant changing prescriptions based on the progression of the lagna, which is what narayana dasa of the rasi is in a roundabout way, I've been doing that too for a while now, with no resulting deaths or injuries either. I remember for example prescribing blue sapphire to a colleague of mine who was a Leo lagna because she was running Libra dasa and Saturn was in need of caffeine vis-a-vis Libra. She called some 2 months or so later to say that she got an unexpected raise. That she called said a bit about what she thought happened, not that the stone was necessarily causative. I glance at the navamsa to figure whether the planet in question is comfortable, but lordship in navamsa doesn't quite wash with me. Guest guest
Dear Pathakji, I am glad you accept that there is no weight prescribed in the classics on Jyotish. As to the weights prescribed by traditional astrologers, I prefer not to comment. Puranas do tell about use of gem stones and so do local customs, but that is besides point here. I agree that gems can not change one's fate but it does change one's reaction under stress in a manner most suitable to the strength of the horoscope. I also agree that prescribing gems without looking at navamsha may not be a correct manner of prescribing gems. My personal opinion is that it is not necessary that gems will work with every horoscope and one does have to study the horoscope in depth to find out whether gems will help or not. As to prescribing gems according to operating dashas, I do not think this is a very good approach. But then those more learned than me may hold a different view. Trine lords mostly are functional benefics and unless they own dusthanas it makes more sense to prescribe their gems than prescribing those of functional malefics, is the way I look at the whole matter and Puranas and some texts do support this view in an oblique manner. Dana of the gems of harmful planets is more appropriate than wearing them. But as I said, those more learned than me could hold a different view in the matter. Chandrashekhar. Guest guest
Don't wear them at all. They only delay your karmic debts. Why delay? Pay your debt and get it over with. vedic astrology, Shashie Shekhar <polite_astro wrote: > > ll HARE RAM ll > Dear friends, > How weight and size of Gemstone should we wear? > > God bless > Shashie Shekhar > > > Shashie Shekhar <polite_astro wrote: > Tue, 2 Jan 2007 22:05:42 -0800 (PST) > Shashie Shekhar <polite_astro > Re: Tourmaline - Turmali - Vaikrant Gemstone > Astro_Remedies > > ll HARE RAM ll > Dear friends, > Tourmaline in English,Turmali in Hindi and Vaikrant in Sanskrit is a unique and extremely useful semi-precious Gemstone. It is found in various colours as Green, > Blue,Pink,Red,Yellow,Black,White and Reddish Brown.Sometimes it has two colours in one piece.Red - Pink Turmali seems like Ruby that is called RUBELLITE and Green is called Brazilian Emerald. This Gemstone absorbs Sun light's effects maximum in comparison to any other Gemstone. Therefore it gives its results soon and more effectively.I admire this Gemstone too much to see its amazing results.As- > [1] It removes worries / troubles and provides solutions & Peace. > [2] To wear Green Tourmaline is highly useful for Businessmen and success is almost sure. > [3] Green Tourmaline is a boon for the children who are weak in their studies or have some mental problem / weakness. It improves intelligence / concentration. > [4] Pink Turmali is quite helpful in the time of crises. It reduces obstacles. The persons who have Sun in Libra in their birth chart should wear this and it will be highly beneficial for them. > [5] It "specially Green Turmali" helps in reducing obesity. > It should be worn in silver only. > > With all good wishes > Shashie Shekhar > > > > Shashi Shekhar Sharma > > > > > > > > Shashi Shekhar Sharma > > > Food fight?
