Daily Reflection

January 17 - Purity

For man to become pure women must practice purity, then they can transform

the world through their purity.

Reading this, I am curious, respectfully... What does this mean, exactly?

That women must practice purity for man to become pure? Why not also men?

And what does it mean, the practice of purity?

This is a hard one, Sundari.

You know, of course, that we are all connected. How much more

connected are husband and wife, who share the same physical, mental

and emotional space day in and day out. What one does, affects the

other, for good or ill.

It is my belief (you are free to disagree :) ) that women naturally

tend more toward purity than men; purity is easier, more natural, for

women than for men.

I think the purity considered here is mostly purity of heart and mind,

characterized by love, compassion, caring, and devotion - exactly

those characteristics valued most in devotees.

IMHO, I interpret Maa's teaching that, how women live their lives will have a dramatic effect on the men in their lives. Women embody the Divine Mother more than any other being on this planet, and so have the energy of transformation within themselves. If women are pure and living by the highest spiritual ideals, then the men in their lives really have no choice but to be transformed by thier shakti.
