Guest guest
Hi As you are from US , so I wish you ask a question. Lot of ayurveds , ask not to eat wheat products like bread etc. In US , one can get 7,9,15 whole grain / multigrain breads , wheat breads etc. (not white flour breads) I prefer 15 grain bread. Do these types of bread lead to poor disgestion and constipation? Thanks Soutrik

Do these types of bread lead to poor > disgestion and constipation? hi soutrik many of these terms are just marketing the truth is that most commercial breads are made with a highly refined flour to which they add in small amounts of whole grains - so its not really whole grain at all furthermore, they add in lots of yeast and/or artificial leavening agents to make the bread puffy and light, and preservatives to maintain shelf life a truly whole grain bread will be made with coarsely milled whole grains and a sourdough starter the result with be a crumbly, heavy bread - think of a door stop - real German pumpernickel bread is an example of what i'm taking about, but you can use other grains besides rye this kind of bread is generally not so good for making sandwiches because it lacks the sticky properties that enables it to maintain its shape, i.e. it falls apart easily ideally you want to mill the grains yourself fresh before you make the bread do this and you won't want to go back to eating the excuse for bread the food industry would have you eat "the greatest thing since sliced bread" they said... an adage that is synonymous with everything that has gone wrong with our food supply best....
