Dear members,

I reproduce below a report that appeared in THE HINDU newspaper issue

dt. 19January 2007. It is self-explanatory.

As I explained to you all during the Veda class last night, the Vedic

Sangeeta Foundation, Chennai, is a non-profit cultural organization

devoted to the twin causes of propagating the Vedas as well as

promoting 'saastrIya sangItam'. The chief patrons of this Foundation

are eminent citizens of Tamil Nadu such as Sri Rajha from the

renowned Raja family from Rajapaalayam, Sri Venu Srinivasan of TVS

SUzuki, Sri N.Srinivasan of Chemplast Group, Sri Sivasailam of

Amalgamations Group and Sri Mohan Paraasharan (son of the renowned ex-

Attorney-General of India, Sri K.Parasharan).

The Foundation with the blessings of Sringeri Sankaracharya has

embarked upon the project of collecting, collating, digitizing and

creating a world-wide audio library of the Vedas as chanted by

learned 'vaideeka' pandits and 'ghanapaatins'. In this endeavour, the

TTD with its vast resources available in its own archives, will lend

a helping hand. This cause is one that will appeal to the pride and

sentiments of all of us who abide by the Vedic faith and believe that

the Vedas are the eternal commonwealth of the entire world, not just

of India.

The project is a mammoth one estimated to cost around Rs.15 mn or

USD 300k. Here is an opportunity for all the 'veda-

abhimaanis', 'vedaDHYaYINS' and 'veda-adhyApakAs', 'veda-srOtriyAs'

the world over to come forward and chip in their bit for the cause by

extending financial support. It is a worthy cause.

May I therefore appeal to all "Kuwait Tiruvenkatam Group" members,

especially the "vedAdhyAyana" students, to please come forward and

help in this cause. All of us know how much spiritual benefit we have

all derived and enjoyed in life the past 6 years since we all

began 'vedAdhyAyana'. It is not possible to define or quantify the

spiritual upliftment that the Vedas brought into our lives. We can

show our gratitude in a small way to the ALmighty, the "veda-

purushan", by participating in a project of this kind that aims

at "veda samrakshanam" and "veda samvriddhi".

We are all small 'gruhasthAs'/ordinary householders and each of us

has his/her own economic conditions and constraints in life. There is

no need to impose undue hardship on ourselves. What we can however do

is to dedicate the 'sambhaavanam-s' collected from the the next 3 or

4 "sravanOtsavam" in Kuwait for the sake of this cause.

Furthermore, each of us can spread the message by word of mouth

amongst friends and acquaintances in Kuwait and elsewhere and appeal

for help and raise as much as we can. I have already given you all

copies of the appeal brochure of the Foundation. After 3 months we

can convert all the collections into a consolidated bank dd and remit

the same to the Foundation of behalf of Kuwait Tiruvenkatam

Group "vedadhayAna gOshti" and on behalf of all 'asthikaas'

and 'vaideekaas' here.

I prostrate before you all who will embrace this cause and be ready

to do your little bit. Members of other like-minded cyber-groups

(like SriRangasri and Oppiliappan etc.) may also please consider this

appeal favorably.

May the Almighty shower his Blessings on one and all!

Regards

daasan,

Sudarshan MK

Plan to put Vedas, Upanishads on website

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI : The Vedica Sangeeta Foundation, which has planned to

celebrate its fourth anniversary on Saturday, would take up the task

of recording the chanting of Vedas and Upanishads and host it on the

website.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Foundation's founder and

trustee A K Ramamurthy said the project was estimated to cost around

Rs 2 crore. While appealing to the public to donate generously for

the ambitious project, he stressed the need for protecting and

preserving the Vedas "at least now."

The Foundation trustee K Jayaraman said there were around 1131 Vedic

Sakhas in vogue some 5,000 years ago and now there were only 9 to 10

Sakhas.

In a bid to resuscitate the Vedas with all its variations, the

Foundation had planned to get them chanted by erudite Vedic scholars

and digitally record them in CD and host them on a website.

"The aim is to take the Vedas to common man around the globe," he

said.

The TTD Tirupathi Executive Officer, A P V N Sharma, would inaugurate

the anniversary celebrations to be held at Tattvaloka in Teynampet.

The Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami would preside.

On the occasion, the Foundation would honour a scholar G

Balasubramania Ganapatigal, Mr Ramamurthy added.

To

Dear and respected Sir/Madame

Our organisation Vedic Links is essentially engaged in the original

recording in Cassettes/Compact Discs of Vedic hymns of all Chatur (4) Vedas,

keeping in mind and addressing all sections of Hindu society.

Indians are giants in the field of spiritualism. Vedic hymns are the

treasure house of Hindu scriptures and the four Vedas form the core of our

Hindu Religion functioning as the four cardinal pillars of support .India

can win over rest of the world culturally and not politically," says a

non-Indian historian. It is therefore necessary to maintain our

traditionally cultural and spiritual values.â€

Ishwara (God) and the Vedas have co-existed. Without being recorded in

writing, the Vedas have been passed from generation to generation. But

nowadays it is not possible or feasible on practical considerations. Hence

our attempt to record the Vedic Hymns in audio CD for the benefit of those

who want to, at least hear the VEDIC chants and or practice the recital.

What is so special about the efficacy of Vedic Mantras are, even without

going into the meaning, when recited or heard, the mere sound effect of them

is beneficial to all concerned. Our Sathguru Swamigal was and is the

inspiration behind this project.

We have flown in the air like birds and swum the sea like fish, but have yet

to learn the simple act of walking on the earth like brothers. Vedas mention

“Lokas samasthas sukino bhavanthu†and “vasudaiva kudumbakam†and

preached Universal Peace (Shanti) for the Mankind considering it as one big

family.

The four Vedas were said to have 1131 branches earlier. But now only 13

branches are traceable (viz., 1% only). Out of these 13 branches also, only

7 are being chanted at different parts of the country. Others are traceable

in script form only. Even these branches may disappear if immediate steps

are not taken to preserve them by any means.

The present generation and generations to follow, should be given an

oppurtunity to understand, appreciate our great tradition thru our Veda

Mantras and live in peace and harmony. “LIFE -You can't take it with

you--but that's no excuse for leaving it in a mess." -- Jim kitchen

We are happy to inform you that at present both Sri Krishna Yajur Veda Sakai

(original recording in 24 CDS) and Samhithai (original recording in 22 CDS)

are available .We hope you would make the Album, a holy and compulsory

possession in your home for regular listening for the well being of the

entire members of your family

We pray almighty to shower His bountiful blessings to all of you and fill

your household with Vedic and divine vibrations.
