Guest guest
Dear lists, I remember reading in some article written by a Western scholar in the past ten years, a reference to the custom, in the Mahabharata and Ramayana, of a man's asking an unknown and unaccompanied woman not only kA asi, but kasya asi. I think it may have been in Mary Brockington's article on the humiliation of Draupadi in the Sabhaparvan. I am certain that I am not thinking of an article that I can find in books that are available to me here, and I need a specific title so that I can get the article sent to me by a friend. Sorry to be so vague, hope it happens to connect with something someone knows. Many thanks.
