Suffering- Who We really Are- to Melissa

Welcome to the group. I too have friends who seem to suffer greatly.

But I have not analyzed why. I do wonder how much they really

suffer. Who is suffering? Their body? If so, they are not the body,

They only dwell in the body. If Maa gets a cold, and you ask Her how

She is feeling. She will respond: "I" am not this 5 element body. It

gets sick, but "I" do not change.

So I have been focusing my energy and attention experiencing that stae

of consciousness which Maa lives always.

So we study with Maa and Swami: who is suffering, who is the sufferer?

Maa and Swami state that suffering is caused by attachement. Our ego,

the small "i" is the sufferer. Our ego, the small "i", controls every

aspect of our life: thoughts, feelings, emotions, and body. It is

like a vine which wraps around the tree and slowly chokes the life out

of it.

We are immortal, eternal. We are Gods who fell from heaven and forgot

our divinity. The great Hindu stories tell of the fall of the Gods

into the world or Maya, delusion. We forget our Divinity. Maa and

Swami remind us of this all the time.

Now, knowing this is the state of affairs: that we are not the body,

that we dwell within it, and that we are Immortal and Eternal, we ask

Maa and Swami: how do we remember and become our true selves again?

They tell us over and over, that we have to perform sadhana in order

to remove the ego. Swami loves the Chandi Path and calls it the best

sadhana to remove the ego. Performing the Chandi, sitting with

straight spine, breathing and chanting 2 verses to the breath, and

chanting the verses to invoke Chandi to destroy our ego: this is a

sadhana which requires great discipline and gives great rewards and

benefits.

Swami states over and over: we discipline ourselves to become free.

Instead of the common thought: being free from discipline.

There are many other techniques which Maa and Swami have taught us to

"go beyond" the relative world become our true selves: puja, homa,

japa, meditation.

The Devi Mandir is that Temple were we practice and obtain a great

"push" from Maa and Swami due to the tremendous purity of the Temple.

We cannot simply wish for change. We have to work for it, and, with

God's Grace, Mother will come and cut the Ego and free us from all

bondage. But, we have to do the work.

Go to the web site: www.shreemaa.org and you will find many classes

that Swami has taught stored there. You can view them on your

computer anytime. Also, every night, Monday thru Friday, at 6:30 PM,

Swami is teaching a live on-line class on the Gita. There is a live

video feed and the class is tremendous.

Every Sunday at 9:30 AM you can tune into a live Chandi Path chant at

the homa in the Temple, with Maa and Swami and the devotees.

Let me know if you have any questions. Hope you will join us. Also,

February 15th, we will celebate Shivaratri. It is a great celebration,

focused on Shiva, the Consciousness of Infinite Goodness, The Guru of

all Gurus. There is tremendous energy and love at this celebration.

If you wish to come, e mail me, and I will forward to Swami, in order

to get permission to visit.

Jai Maa Jai Swami
