Guest guest
[651] CandA : The passionate Goddess. CandA or Candi is an epithet of DurgA. She is out to vanquish evil or demonic forces in the world. Goddess UmA as the daughter of DaksaprajApati became passionate and immolated herself causing disruption and destruction to the daksa Sacrifice. That is the form of Candi. The Divine Mother is pleasant and beautiful. At the same time she is terrible also. It is the Supreme Self that assumes the form of the Mother. Candi is Brahman in the form of MahAmAyA. [652] KarAladasanAnanA : She whose face glows wit fearful teeth. This is one of the forms of KAli. Moving in crematory the goddess, mad with tasting the meat and blood of the dead, looks terrific with her formidable teeth. Esoterically this means that the Divine Mother is ever ready to destroy the little ego that causes birth and death in cyclic order. [653] KarAlA : The goddess who is very fearful. Having assumed the form of KAli, the goddess slew the demons Canda and Munda and wore the garland of their heads. This spread terror for other demons as well.
