[These are words of a high order Yogi of Siddhashram. We may have difficulty in understanding this and defining on the basis of out little experience, still there is something to tell us that answers and destination come through sadhna only]

Accumulated past Karma (Destiny) brings us money and material comforts. As per your destiny whatever money has to come to will surely come to you, in spite of that it is not good for one to sit idle. One should surely keep on doing hard work. While cutting a fruit, a knife in hand will not move on its own and cut that fruit, person himself has to hold the knife and move it in the direction of cutting that fruit. Therefore work and effort are necessary.
