in Nepal. Whenever, I meet the Indian

people, they seem to beleive that Maoists

are sponsored by China. But I beleive that

the Maoists in Nepal are sponsored by Christian

countries.

The visiting delegation of India's main opposition, Bharatiya Janata

Party (BJP), met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Friday.

The delegation led by Surendra Kumar Arora, the Foreign Department

of the BJP, held "extensive discussion" with the Prime Minister on

Nepal's current political scenario, reports quoting Baluwatar

sources said. The BJP leaders also sought Koirala's attention to

the 'excesses' of Maoists at a time when they are preparing to join

an interim cabinet.

During the hour-long meeting at the PM's residence in Baluwatar, the

BJP delegatation expressed commitment to assist in the constituent

assembly election slated for mid-June this year.

During their stay in Katmandu, the BJP leaders will meet with senior

leaders of Nepali Congress, Nepali Congress (Democratic), Rastriya

Prajatantra Party (RPP) and the Maoists. The team arrived here on

Wednesday on a four-day visit.

The BJP, a Hindu nationalist party, which has been supportive of

monarchy in Nepal, was the only major political party in India that

expressed displeasure over the Nepal parliament's declaration to

turn Nepal into a secular state.
