MEDITATING, STAYING AWAKE

O'SIYO KUNDALINI FAMILY, I ONCE HAD AN APACHE TEACHER EXPLAIN TO US THAT DURING MEDITATION YOU ARE TAKING CONTROL OF THE BODY, THE BODY HAS CONTROL MOST OF THE TIME, DURING MEDITATION YOU MUST TAKE CONTROL OF THE BODY, AND THE BODY WILL ACTUALLY DO EVERYTHING TO PREVENT THIS, GOING TO SLEEP IS THE BODY'S WAY OF SAYING (HA!) I'M STILL IN CONTROL!, ALSO YOU WANT TO GET IN A PERFECTLY STILL POSITION, AS YOU START TAKING CONTROL MENTALLY AND SPIRITUALLY YOU WILL FIND THE BODY WILL DO THINGS THAT WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO MOVE...LIKE YOU WILL GET THIRSTY, IGNORE IT, IT WILL GO AWAY, OR YOU MAY GET AN ITCH SOMEWHERE ON YOUR BODY THAT YOU WILL JUST HAVE TO MOVE AND SCRATCH, IGNORE IT, IT WILL GO AWAY, STAY PERFECTLY STILL. ANOTHER TEACHER EXPLAINED, BREATH IN THE WORDS BE STILL, BREATH OUT THE WORDS AND KNOW! THEN YOU CAN ALSO BREATH IN SAT AND BREATH OUT NAM, THEN JUST BREATH IN AND BREATH OUT, THEN LET THE AUTONOMIC NERVE CENTER TAKE OVER THE BREATHING, THE THIRST WILL GO

AWAY, THE ITCH WILL GO AWAY, WHAT EVER IT IS THE BODY IS DOING TO TRY TO KEEP IN CONTROL WILL GO AWAY. LET ME EXPLAIN, (AGAIN WHAT I AM WRITING HERE ARE THINGS I HAVE LEARNED FROM SOME VERY WONDERFUL TEACHERS), WE HAVE OUR OUTER, EVERYDAY SELVES FUNCTION MOSTLY THROUGH THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM OF OUR BODIES. THIS SYSTEM INCLUDES PORTIONS OF THE BRAIN, THE SPINAL CORD, THE MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM, AND THE FIVE SENSES, WE CONTROL THIS SYSTEM WITH OUR CONSCIOUS MINDS--CHOOSING TO WALK, TALK, SMELL, OR TOUCH WHENEVER WE CARE TO. HOWEVER, THERE IS ANOTHER SYSTEM WITHIN OUR BODIES THAT IS UNDER THE CONTROL OF OUR SUBCONSCIOUS. THIS IS THE AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM. IT CONSISTS OF THE SYMPATHETIC/PARASYMPATHETIC SYSTEM, THE ORGANS AND GLANDS OF THE BODY INCLUDING THE ENDOCRINE GLANDS, WHICH IDENTIFIES WITH THE SPIRITUAL CENTERS, THE CHAKRAS. THE SUBCONSCIOUS AND ITS COMPANION, THE SOUL, ARE OVERSEEING THE TEMPERATURE, CHEMISTRY, FUEL NEEDS, HEARTBEAT, BREATHING,

ASSIMILATION, DIGESTION; AND REACTING TO THE NEEDS AND DEMANDS OF THE OUTER SYSTEM.

WHAT DO THESE TWO NERVOUS SYSTEMS HAVE TO DO WITH SUCCESSFUL MEDITATION? WHEN WE QUIET THE OUTER SYSTEM AND DO SOMETHING TO STIMULATE THE INNER SYSTEM, WE ARE SETTING ASIDE OUR OUTER SELVES AND ACTUALLY ACTIVATING OUR SOULS. FOR EXAMPLE, LET'S SIT DOWN AND STOP USING OUR MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEMS. LET'S REDUCE OUR SENSE PERCEPTION BY CLOSING DOWN OUR FIVE SENSES--CLOSE OUR EYES, STOP TOUCHING, LISTENING, SMELLING, AND TASTING. THIS QUIETS THE OUTER SYSTEM AND THE OUTER SELF. NOW, LET'S TAKE HOLD OF SOME PART OF THE INNER SYSTEM THAT THE SOUL AND SUBCONSCIOUS HAVE CHARGE OF, AND LET'S ALTER IT. THE MOST POPULAR PART IS THE BREATH. THE AUTONOMIC SYSTEM. UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND AND SOUL, IS IN CHARGE OF AND DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE BREATH. IF WE START CHANGING THE BREATH, WE CAUSE THE SOUL AND SUBCONSCIOUS MIND TO BECOME ALERT TO THESE CHANGES. THIS IS AN ACTION THAT LEADS FROM OUR OUTER SELVES TO OUR INNER SELVES, AND ULTIMATELY TO AN ALTERED

STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS. NOW UNDERSTANDING THAT THE BODY AND THE MIND WISH TO REMAIN IN CONTROL, THUS THE DRY MOUTH, OR THE ITCH OR ANY THING THAT WITH MAKE YOU WANT TO MOVE, JUST IGNORE IT, THEN THE MIND, THOUGHTS, WHEN THE THOUGHTS TRY TO TAKE CONTROL CENTER YOUR MIND BACK TO YOUR MANTRA AND YOUR BREATH, ALSO REMEMBER WITH YOUR EYES CLOSED CENTER YOUR GAZE ON YOUR THIRD EYE CENTER. USING A COMBINATION OF AN AFFIRMATION LIKE BE STILL AND KNOW AND A MANTRA, IN COORDINATION WITH A BREATHING PATTERN, WE CAN ENTER INTO WHAT SOME ANCIENTS CALL THE MAGIC SILENCE. IN ORDER TO FULLY SUCCEED WITH THIS AFFIRMATION/MANTRA, NOT ONLY DO WE NEED THE POWER OF THE WORDS BUT WE MUST TAKE HOLD OF THE BREATH, AND CREATE A BREATHING PATTERN THAT AROUSES THE SOUL. IT WORKS LIKE THIS: "BE STILL, (INHALE SLOWLY WHILE FEELING THE WORD STILL AND EXHALE SLOWLY) AND KNOW, INHALE SLOWLY WHILE FEELING THE KNOW AND EXHALE SLOWLY. IN BETWEEN THE PHRASES BREATH IN AND OUT COMPLETELY BEFORE GOING ON

TO THE NEXT PHRASE, SAT TA NA MA OR SAT NAM, KEEP THE BREATH RELAXED YET UNDER YOUR CONTROL.

IF THE FEELING/BREATHING PHASE OF THIS METHOD IS BEING EXPERIENCED WELL, AND NO DISTRACTIONS ARE OCCURRING, THEN DO ANOTHER BREATHING CYCLE BEFORE GOING ONTO THE NEXT PHRASE. IF YOU ARE IN THE STILLNESS OR THE GODNESS, REMAIN IN IT AS LONG AS YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS HOLDS THERE. IF IT MOVES, THEN BRING IT BACK BY SAYING (IN YOUR MIND) THE NEXT PHRASE. THESE SILENT PERIODS BETWEEN THE PHRASES ARE THE MORE IMPORTANT PARTS OF THE PRACTICE. THE PHRASES GATHER AND DIRECT THE CONSCIOUSNESS BUT THE SPACES OF SILENCE ARE (GOLDEN) OR (MAGICAL). SO, AS LONG AS YOU ARE SILENT AND STILL, STAY THERE; DON'T FEEL A NEED TO MOVE ON TO THE NEXT PHRASE OR REPEAT THE PHRASES.

THIS METHOD OF COMBINING AN AFFIRMATION/MANTRA WITH BREATHING WILL BRING EVEN THE WEAKEST MEDIATOR INTO A DEEP STILLNESS AND A HEIGHTENED SENSE OF GODNESS....

TO MOVE DEEPER, ADD THREE "OM'S ON THE END OF THE LAST PHRASE; BE STILL (FEEL AND BREATH) AND KNOW (GOD) (FEEL AND BREATHE) OOOMMMM (FEEL AND BREATHE) OOOOOMMMMM (FEEL AND BREATHE) OOOOOOMMMMM (FEEL AND BREATHE) THIS CAN BE OUT LOUD IN THE BEGINNING AND THEN QUIET IN YOUR MIND AS YOU GO DEEPER.

I HOPE THIS WILL BE OF ASSISTANCE TO THOSE WHO MAY BE HAVING SOME TROUBLE LETTING GO OF THE BODY TO GET INTO THE MAGICAL SILENCE....SAT NAM! AND AH-HO! STARWOMAN
