'Listen, sister, listen.

I had a dream

I saw rice, betel, palmleaf

and coconut.

I saw an ascetic

come to beg,

white teeth and small matted curls.

I followed on his heels

and held his hand,

he who goes breaking

all bounds and beyond.

I saw the lord, white as jasmine,

and woke wide open.'

'Like

treasure hidden in the ground

taste in the fruit

gold in the rock

oil in the seed

the Absolute hidden away

in the heart

no one can know

the ways of our lord

white as jasmine.'

Henny sent this excerpt,

"Listen, sister, listen.

I had a dream....."

Yes! Once I too had a dream..

Or did I ??

Late one summer night, while on a rare and precious visit to the Ashram,

I sat by the Holy fire in the temple fulfilling a sankalp I had taken for the period

of my stay there. The day had skipped by in other wonderous acitivities.

So there I sat chanting His name, turning my Mala beads, yawning and talking to Him all at once "are you there, are you listening, do you ever listen, what am I doing this for, I should go to sleep. No I cant, Ma said fulfill your sankalpa. Oh Shiva help me, my problems and all...blah.. blah.."

In the stillness of the night and that I was there all by myself, the chanting got louder and so did the chatter in my head.

Suddenly He was there, grey as the ash in the Hawan Kund. Huge and all encompassing. "I am always there", He said. I just sat there stunned, mouth open, ...and very silent, no thought, no words, staring. I simply sat their in total silence within and without, for a very long time. Much time elapsed before the remaining Mantras were uttered.

Next morning I wanted to ask Ma about it, but didn't.. She seemed to know and then I never spoke about it...

That was very beautiful, Neelima. You are wise to have kept it in your

heart.

Probably Mother saw your struggles and gave you that grace out of her

boundless compassion. She gives the BEST presents, doesn't she?

Jai Maa!
