Guest guest
Allahabad (Feb 6, 2007): The three-day World Hindu Conference, which begins here from February 11, will discuss the problems faced by Hindus abroad, including the US, a senior VHP activist said today. Delegates from over 30 countries will discuss ways to counter "problems and exploitation faced by Hindus who emigrate from India for studies and employment", VHP's overseas cell programme director Anjali Pandya said. She said the conference would discuss problems of Hindus in Nepal, Bangladesh, Fiji, US, Bhutan and Surinam among others. She alleged that Hindu emigrants are often "emotionally blackmailed into religious conversions by others who take advantage of their sense of alienation." Pandya said there was a need of "better religious and cultural education" for the community and added the VHP was already running schools for Hindu children in the US where learn about their own culture. Asked about the possible role of NRIs in the Ram Janambhoomi movement, she said, "They would certainly play a role, but that would be secondary as primary effort has to come from within the country."
