Guest guest
The purpose of starting this thread is to understand and learn, not to start a fight. So please don't abuse the thread starter. Mayavadins say that the world is mithya, meaning it's real in the sense the dream is real. Once the dream is over, it's unreal. This category cannot be called real or satya because it's subject to time. But you can't call it asatya because it DOES exist, albeit for a brief period. Hence a third state called mithya. Mayavadins contend the world is similar to a dream and therefore, mithya. Once we wake up, we'll realize our true nature-that we are Brahman, and as long as we're in ignorance, we'll consider the world to be real. Based on this, they say even Lord Krishna or the MB events are all mithya, they are NOT real in the absolute sense. Devotion to them is necessary only to get out of this illusion, and not an end in itself. This is their view. How do Vaishnavas respond to this?
