Guest guest
I am new at hinduism but not new at practices rituals etc since i have been a pagan for over 15 years so alot of things here sound familiar or close to what I have done but I have a question. What if you decide on your path to go further with this and want to find a guru how do you go about it. Now i am praying for an answer because i live in an area with no temple closeby. Is it possible to be in contact to guru online only? or is that not possible? I just do not know where to start and what to do next. Just asking for some guidance from everyone here. Guest guest
Namaste Seshmet: I've been looking for a guru for 24 years. In the meantime I've been Buddhist, pagan, Wiccan, and slowly finally Hindu. Everything seemed to fit together. I'm pretty far away from Shree Maa, and although I'm in a fairly large city, the nearest Hindu temple is still quite a drive away. I'm hoping that we can make a pilgrimage to see the guru once or twice a year, but I'm not sure about this either. Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya! When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Be patient. If you are keen on seeing Maa, Maa will create the opprotunity for you. Guest guest
Hi Seshmet! Welcome! It is difficult to find a guru, for some. For others, it is easy. As with everything, I think karma plays as large a part as one's desires. Adhikara (I hope I have that right) means qualified. In order to receive initiation from a gurudeva it is necessary that one is prepared, or qualified. It is also very hard to find a true sat guru, a truly enlightened gurudeva. It is my belief that Shree Maa is such a one, and if he is not yet, Swamiji must be very close. Fortunately for us, like true servants of humanity, Shree Maa and Swami Satyananda do not hoard their teachings or their shakti, but give both freely for the benefit of all who come to them seeking to learn. It is said that the highest teachings are always given in silence. We crave the physical nearness and human relationship with the guru, but it is not necessary in order to receive their blessings. Even if you cannot receive diksha, or initiation, you can still receive their grace by devoting yourself to their teachings, by practicing the sadhana they suggest, with pure devotion to God, and, as your love grows with time, to the gurudeva. I hope you find what you need Seshmet. May God's blessings be yours. Jai Maa! Guest guest
Namaste Seshmet Let me suggest that you have found your guru in Shree Maa an Swamiji. You need look no longer or go anywhere else. Here's how I know! In reality the guru finds you. They are drawn to the longing in your heart. You're home now, so relax, stop worrying start practicing. Guest guest
Thanks for the help all I will check these books out plus website just to say I have been a devotee of God for over 15 years my spiritual life comes first in my life even if family members do not like it. There is times when life got a little overwhelming and it tried to occupy my complete time but i did find i can not do without the spiritual practices/rituals/prayer or meditations plus God in my life or things just fall apart or at least i do fall into darkness/sadness. So I am a firm believer that God (whatever you call them) is my life and always will be. Since i am so new at hinduism and so much to learn just wanted some hints or a guru to get me thru where to start and what to do next. So all help is appreciated for sure!!!! thanks again Seshmet We won't tell. Get more on shows you hate to love (and love to hate): TV's Guilty Pleasures list.
