Dear Bhagavathas, sishyas and abhimanis of Srimath Thirukkudanthai

Andavan,

 

Exactly one month from now on March 28, 2007, we will be celebrating the

CENTENARY (101st Thirunakshatam - Sathamaana Mahotsavam) of one of the

greatest Acharyas of our times Srimath Thirukkudanthai Andavan of

Srirangam Srimath Andavan Ashramam. At about the same time now next

month, many great present Srivaishnava Acharyas led by Srimath

Srimushnam Andavan will be assembled at Srirangam with thousands of

sishyas and abhimanis for celebrating Thirukkudanthai Andavan's

centenary Thirunakshatram in a Grand and fitting manner.

 

Srimath Thirukkudanthai Andavan was in the acharya peetam for 26 years

(5th April 1963- 10th April 1989) covering the length and breadth of

Bharatha desam on foot to spread our great Ramanuja philosophy of

Saranagathy to Emperumaan Lord Sriman Narayana. One should remember

Swami Desikan's testimony that not even our Lord Narayana can try to

repay an Acharyan for all the upakAram he does to his sishya, for

enlightening with knowledge and dispelling the darkness. Srimath

Thirukkudanthai Andavan has done Mahopakaram to not only his sishyas but

to our entire srivaishnava community. His entire life both before His

ascension to acharya peetam as Kannan Swami and after the ascension as

Thirukkudanthai Andavan was a truly golden period in the modern history

of Srivaishnavam. Srimath Andavan's scintillating upanyasams brought

back thousands of bhagavathas from all sects of sishya parampara from

both kalais to the main fold wherever he went, and made them realize the

greatness of our sampradayam. If not for great acharyas like Srimath

Thirukkudanthai Andavan, many srivaishnava families would have veered

away into modernism and lost the treasure that is our sampradayam,

forever. The Mahopakaram that Srimath Andavan has done to our

sampradayam cannot be repaid back by any measure. But as a small way of

paying back for an Acharyan's upakaram, let all of us all Srivaishnavas

from all kalais and all sishya parampara join hands together and sing

the praise and glory of this mahaan and celebrate His centenary

Thirunakshatram in a grand manner.

 

Sri Ramanuja Mission of Srirangam Srimath Andavan Ashramam plans to

celebrate the Centenary in a grand manner and coordinate the

celebrations in many locations through out USA and abroad during the

weekend of March 24-25 and March 31-April 1. We request sishyas and

abhimanis in all nooks and corners of USA and all other places outside

India to come forward and host the Thirunakshatram with other

srivaishnavas, sishyas and abhimanis of Srimath Thirukkudanthai Andavan

living in and around the cities together as a single family. For those

needing guidance on what to do and how to celebrate, we plan to make it

easy by mailing out CDs that has traditional parayanam and sambhavanai

kramam, that is easy to play and follow together. Please reply back to
