Guest guest
Namaste all. This post has been triggered by Dhyanasaraswati's post #35096 where she talks of three g's. The traditional quote is: *catur-gakAra-samyukte punar-janma na vidyate* Meaning, "When the four g's are there, there shall be no further birth" The four g's are: Gita, Ganga (The Ganges), Govinda (God's name) and GAyatrI. GangA is the water of the Ganges that flows from the Lord after washing His lotus feet - this has to be received on our HEAD so that it may wash off the sins committed by the body (= kAyena). GItA is the nectar of His music coming from His own mouth in the form of the greatest exposition of scriptural truths - this has to be received and kept in our MIND so that it may wash off the sins created by the mind (= manasA). Govinda is His sweet name - the dispenser and protector of the vedas is to be kept continuously kept in our TONGUE, the organ of speech, so that it may wash off the sins committed by our speech (= vAcA). This applies to the name Hari also or to any of the other thousands of names of God. GAyatrI is the very breath, if it can be so called, of the Lord Absolute, as to be received and treasured in the HEART so that ultimately it may open up the gate of Self-Realization. It is the One thing that unveils the vastness of the Infinite to our heart. For more on this, please go to http://www.geocities.com/profvk/gohitvip/34page4.html and succeeding pages. Dhyanasaraswati adds 'Guru' also to the list of g's and that makes it more interesting. Guru is the one to whom we should give (surrender) all of ourselves, namely, head, mind, speech and heart through which we receive the other four. And I am willing to modify the traditional quote as follows: *gakAra-panchake pUrNe punar-janma na vidyate* Meaning, When the group of five g's' are complete, there shall be no future birth!
