Float festival at Parthasarathy temple

The annual float festival of the Sri Parthasarathy Swamy temple in Triplicane, Chennai, has begun in a grand manner at the temple. It's a seven-day festival, which attracts a large nubmer of devotees and foreign touritsts.

The first three days are dedicated to Sri Parthasarathy Swamy and the following four days dedicated to Sri Narasimhar, Sri Ranganathar, Sri Ramar and Sri Varadar Swamy. Elaborate arrangements have been made by the temple authorities for the safe conduct of the festival.

The deities are taken round on a decorated float (theppam) in the evenings between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. during this festival in the temple tank, Kairaveni Pushkarani.
