Guest guest
Very interesting Babaji. To complicate it further, Hanumanji is also an Avtaar of Rudra, the terrible form of Shiva. He is the 11th Rudra, with the first being Mahakaal, the Lord of Time. No wonder demons are scared of him! I think Kesari & Anjan were the biological parents, while the soul was a part of Vayu. Normally, during conception, any soul that has Karma with the parents enters the Mother. But in this case, I think, Vayu, taking the energy of Rudra, sent a part of himself as a soul into Anjans body. This of course means Hanumanji shared no Karma with his parents. In fact, he shared nothing with them except for his body. He was a Mahagyani- in whole of Ramayan he was the only one who accepted Ram as God- all others accepted as a great Person, but not as God(the same thing happened with Krishna). Because he was an Avtaar of Rudra, he had great strength & agility, even more than the other half monekys, half men.

May be this could help answer your question. Brihaspati had an attendant by the name of Punjikasthala who was cursed to assume the body of a female monkey. The curse was to be removed on her giving birth to an incarnation of Lord Siva. Accordingly, she was born as Anjana and, together with her husband, Kesari lived a life of chastity and purity. She performed intense Tapasya for a great many years, during which period she worshipped Lord Siva who being pleased with her granted her a boon. She asked that Lord Siva be born to her so that she may be freed from the curse. At the same time, elsewhere, Dasaratha, the king of Ayodhya was performing the Putrakama Yagna in order to have children. As a result he was given the sacred pudding by Agnideva to share among his wives so that they may have divine children (Ram, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna), by divine ordinance, a bird snatched a fragment of that pudding and, whilst flying over the forest, dropped it where Anjana was engaged in worship. Pavandev delivered that fragment of pudding to the outstretched hands of Anjana who immediately swallowed it. With that grace, she, in due course, gave birth to Hanumanji. Thus we find that Lord Siva incarnated as Hanumanji in the bodily form of a monkey through the grace and blessings of his god-father (spiritual father) Pavandev, with Anjana and Kesari as his earthly parents. That is why hanumanji is also known as pavan putra. (As far as I remember, hanumanji has 108 names.)
