Guest guest
Is your dosha as indicated by the astrological chart the same as the ayurvedic dosha? It says Taurus lagna with Kapha dosha and all the rest--the chandra, surya and nakshatra say Vata. I always feel like Vata and some Pitta are the ones. Guest guest
Judging doshas from pulse, ashtavidha pariksha is easier than judging them from charts. Not only Lagna, but nakshatra of lagna, lagna-lord, his nakshatra, zodiac sign where he is situated and also conjunctions and aspects from other planets assume importance. The planets occupying lagna, they being conjoined by others or aspected by others also make equal influence. Furthermore, Lagna karaka, that is sun, also assumes importance since sun is both lagna karaka, governs immunity and blood purity too. While above things give basic prakruti, 6/8 houses and their lords, planets there give sensitivity to the type of diseases controlled by those signs, nakshatras, lords and occupied planets. And this is not enough. What will govern the doshas will be determined by the strength of the Lagna/Moon/Sun chart, take whichever is stronger. This make the subject quite difficult. As if to complicate the matters more, the dasa and dyanmic transits help to know how old the disease is, what course it is likely to take, and whether it is curable by herbs alone or needs further efforts by subject. (The word patient now changes to "subject" here). a simple "prashna kundali" [chart cast on the time of start of consultation] can also tell whether patient has trust on healer and is likely to find cure. an expert astrologer can tell the subject his likely disease without even touching him. Thus there are many methods, theories available, which one is best depends on the extent of practice and insight by the healer. Number of astrological texts have treated medical astrology to the level of nakshatras and even Navamshas. Often people laugh when an astrologer asks them to wear a certain gem stone, or chant certain mantra etc, but it is seen that mind part of the disease gets treated here well. the fear, anxiety, mania/phobia vanishes directly proportional to the trust on the healer! That is a significant achievement in medical astrology! Author feels that better contribution by astrology is that it makes ayurveda, healing herbs, methods/adminstration times of formulations easier to understand, if a student also knows astrology. to give an example, medicines containing Roupya Bhasma are pitta and heat pacifiers, since this Bhasma comes from silver, silver is associated with moon, moon with water principle, cooling effect, mind etc. Medicines to treat nerves, depression etc also contain this and silver water is also used. There is total consistency in ayurveda, and astrology. The Pitta, Kapha, Vata doshas are associated with Nadi of of each nakshatra, but here again it is not a simple tabular classification. Certain nakshatras which span more than one sign have mixed nadis, as proposed by Sage "Garg". Being more complex, the discussion is generally avoided at the group. ayurveda, "Darla Wells" <lethe9 wrote: > > Is your dosha as indicated by the astrological chart the same as the > ayurvedic dosha?
