wheatgrass juice causes my lips, mouth and throat to become mildly

inflamed - IgE-mediated hypersensitivity response

i have also noted this in other people as well - i think its

important to remember that grasses are antigenic foods for many people

rather than grasses, there are a number of other green foods

for eg., nettle is an excellent non-allergenic green food that has

all the benefits of wheatgrass

the tibetan yogi milarepa fasted on nettle as part of his sadhana,

literally turning his body green

and western herbalists have long recommended nettle as the premier

women's female reproductive tonic

And we have all the old Southern favorites: turnip greens, collard greens,

mustard greens, kale. They are wonderful to see after a cold winter and very

tasty. The old people who grew up eating them swear by them and seem to have

been healthier than this generation in some ways. I wonder how many

cultures have that urge to eat bitter greens as a tonic to feel better. I

know I grew up loving greens and it seems to transfer to other cuisines, for

example, I just love bok choy.
