Saumya,

yes, tryptophan(e)- both spellings are correct as per dictionary- is a precursor of serotonin. In fact, they used to sell it as a sleep aid (also?) before FDA banned due to a fatal batch from a particular Japanese company- you can still get it in canada and other places with prescription, I believe. It triggers migraine as well (apart from epilepsy) in certain individuals. Altho found in all dairy products, most notable is cheese; reminds me of the current cheesy discussion :-)

All the same, some day or other people will have to address aminoacids in the light of Jyotish as they are important building blocks; just like planets are attributed to IT (industry), electronics etc., as new things are discovered/labelled, new associations need to be embarked up on.

Saumya, FYI, amaranth is the ONLY vegetable source (grain) with complete protein (all amino acids)! The name comes from sanskrit 'amara' - deathless. And 'amarantos' means 'unfading' in Greek; they add suffix 'os' very commonly. Many species are consumed in India, as 'Garden variety' greens- no pun intended; blessed by all planets, perhaps!

I thought navadhanyas (used in Navagraha puja) are PRIMARILY based on thier colors. What if they give a clue to your groupings based on predominant aminoacids? Now that you started running with this aminoacid torch, you might want to look into this! May be this will help us figure out if sesame or mustard is more representative of Lord Sani ;-)

Regards.

[vedic astrology] thanks to all

Dear All,

It is pleasure to see the various explanation from learned member who are looking at it from various angles. Being a biologist, I was doing some analysis and found this common theme between biology and astrology. In fact, I have been enlightened after reading so many mails. Regarding Rohini ranajan ji milk and soothing effect of brain. Milk is rich tryptophan. This amino acid is a precursor of 5-HTP and serotonin ( I hope I am right). serotonin promotes sleep.

I will pour more when I feel in this issue.

Again thank you people for taking an interest.

Best regards
