Quintessence 2007 1st Quarter: In this Issue

****************************************************

In our first issue of 2007, Srila Prabhupada encourages us to return to the spiritual platform through cultivation of God consciousness - chanting of God's Names and abiding by His instructions and laws. In "A God Who Does Not Dance", Premananda Das, a first time contributor, responds to critics of Lord Krishna's famous conjugal pastimes, clearing some major misconceptions and encouraging an understanding free of mundane knowledge and morality. Returning to the spiritual platform and properly understanding the absolute truth entails giving up materialistic qualities - of which, a prominent one is pride. In "Pride goes before a fall", Priya Rajagopal, looking through the lens of Vedic wisdom, succinctly explains the cause and consequence of pride and how to overcome this self-destructive quality. A characteristic feature of pride is a desire for honor, fame, prestige and so on - and when such mundane desires overpower us, there is no question of peace, explains Radhikesh Das

in part 2 of "Peace: How everyone wants it but few know how to achieve it". And, our first trip of 2007 is to "Remuna, The Abode of the Supreme Thief", where Lord Krishna, is celebrated and worshipped for His transcendental mischief!

There is more - "Veggie corner", "pitfalls of leadership", the latest Krishna conscious news from Universities and wisdom to help you lead a happy and peaceful life - Wish you a Krishna conscious experience!
