suchandra
When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300 Celsius. The Russians used a pencil.

riih.qarojamahoamaan
It was clever to use a pencil. Do you know the story of Diogenes? the founder of cynic philosophy, he owned very few things, a bag was enough for him to carry it all. For home, he used a big 'pithos', a vessel like a barrel, where he slept in. Among his things in his bag, there was a wooden goblet he used for drinking water from public fountains. One day he saw a little boy using only his own hands as a cup to drink. When Diogenes saw that, he was ashamed, saying "i thought i used the cheapest and fewest possible things, but here that boy defeated me by using something cheaper, something less!". Then Diogenes threw away his goblet, never used it again. As Pythagoras said, "the less you need, the more you are close to God, who needs nothing".
