suchandra
Although there're still many calls, especially from senior Vaishnavas, aiming to "reform the present gurus," since they have no real understanding that bonafide gurus do not need reform - acaryam mam vijaniyan navamanyeta karhicit - Acarya is the representative of God and just like God doesnt need reform, the spiritual master doesnt need reform. Only priests might need reform. Interestingly, many Vaishnavas say that Srila Prabhupada is correct to say that Jesus can still be the diksha-guru for the Christians and "absorb the sins," but in the next breath there's a belittlement of Srila Prabhupada along with all the other previous genuine Acaryas, saying, Srila Prabhupada is nowhere near as potent as Jesus - and, Prabhupada's living books, they no longer are able to give "divyam jnanam - wich destroys sins" (diksha). So, it can be said that this is defending the Christian Church process - only Jesus is potent enough to be the "post-samadhi" diksha-guru, while claiming, worshippers of the physically passed away Acarya, without whom there would be presently no knowledge of bhakti-yoga in the Western world, are the "bogus church of Christians", when it is mentioned that Prabhupada has equal potency? theist
It is an absurd position. We challenge such people to step forward and explain in a scientific manner just exactly why Srila Prabhupada's books could deliver divya jnana when he was in a body but no longer can once he has laid that body down. Precisely what was the cause of this diminished potency no one ever even attempts to explain. Instead they offer terms like "bookvadis' to try and belittle others faith in the continued (eternal) potency of Srila Prabhupada's teachings on bhakti. In Prabhupada's vani the world has a living guru who is not in need of some reform. And there also the standard is set for all who would be guru in the highest sense of the word. When someone rises to the standard set by the book Bhagavat and by the person Bhagavat now present in Srila Prabhupada's commentaries on the book Bhagavat, then that person is himself a link in the transcendental parampara. The standard is pure unmotivated devotional love for Sri Krsna. Not the number of temples opened or books distributed or knowledge of sanskrit but rather purity of love for Krsna. As for Lord Jesus Christ I see him in the person of AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada. As far as my tiny eyes can see their purity and love for God are on the same level. Their fervor and one pointed dedication to saving the conditioned souls are the same to me. Srila Prabhupada would also have submitted to the cross if required of him by the Lord. In fact he did pick up his own individual cross and follow Jesus just as Jesus instructed his disciples to do. The cross represents sacrificing all desires that are material or self motivated in favor of doing Krsna's will. In that Srila Prabhupada is true representative of Lord Jesus Christ. No need to call himself a Christian he simply led the life of a suddha bhakta. Such devotees recognize, know and reflect each other in their own individual lives because such is the nature of the self realized transcendentalists. The offensive outlook exposed by suchandra above needs to recitified and the transcendental nature and mission of the pure bhakti movement has to reaffirmed. That can happen for us all individually simply by recognizing the continued potency of Srila Prabhupada's vani. As always IMO.
