suchandra
If a more puranic explanation were to given, it would go something like this: This is the age of kali and it would only make sense that atheism is on the rise. Unfortunately, it is considered stylish to be atheistic. And remember, this is only the first leg of Kaliyuga....! In the second leg, it is said that humanity will disappear alongwith Dharma.....! So the rest is for you to judge!! 'dvaite 'bhadrabhadra-jñana, saba — 'manodharma' 'ei bhala, ei manda,' — ei saba 'bhrama' "In the world of duality — that is to say, in the material world — so-called goodness and badness are both the same. Therefore, in this world, to distinguish between good and bad, happiness and distress, is meaningless because they are both mental concoctions (manodharma)." som
Your points are well taken. But for a person who acts as if s/he is sleeping, none can wake them up. If someone is really sleeping you can wake them up. But, if someone acts then you cannot. Therefore, there is enough logic to prove the existence of soul. The body is the same while living and dead, then what is missing in the dead body that it starts to decompose and remains static? Similarly, the airplane cannot move by itself. There has to be some person behind it. Therefore, all the planets cannot move by themselves in the orbit -- there is a Supreme Person controlling their movement. All this is very very simple logic, but if a person has made up his mind not to accept God, then whatever you do to them they will not accept. That's the reason Krishna says: [ Na Maam Dushkrtino Mudha Prapadyante Naraadhamaha Mayayaapahrta Jnaana Aasurim Bhaavam Aashritah "Those miscreants who are grossly foolish, lowest among mankind, whose knowledge is stolen by illusion, and who partake of the atheistic nature of demons, do not surrender unto Me." - BG 7.15 - http://www.asitis.com/7/15.html ] The reason the number of atheists are growing is because of the fact that science is becoming increasingly accessible to the general public. The fact that mystical states are induced by the brain, that most if not all mystical states are rather delusory, and the number of spiritualists exposed as hypocrites and frauds is growing everyday is quite damning evidence against the existence of any God or the validity of any religion. Moreover, it's increasingly harder to accept the existence of any intelligence behind the fabrication of this universe as we learn more about the brain, physics and the true nature of reality, etc. We begin to understand that there is a cause and effect behind everything, and all purely on the material, mental, or psychological level. There's no clear definition of "spirit", "soul", or even "god" so spiritualists have the advantage of being able to conform these terms to whatever situation they may see it applicable. Blind scriptural recitation isn't nearly enough to convince anyone of the validity of the existence of God. The proof has to be tangible or coherent, or it's not proof at all, just wishful thinking. A lot of the arguments for the existence of God contribute also against the existence of God. For instance, the idea that the universe exists, therefore it must have a Creator. If the Creator exists, who created the Creator? And if nobody created the Creator, that means it is not necessary for a creation to exist because of a Creator. So if it is not necessary for a creation to exist because of a Creator, one cannot make the assumption that the universe had a Creator to begin with. Unless GOD shows himself in a form thats miraculous aethists are going to have their way, because the onus is on those who claim it exists to prove its existence rather than the ones who claim it doesnt exist. This day and age without fear and expectation no one goes to a temple or listens to a guru or monopolises their god to be the only real one and all other gods are fake. You say Krishna says this Krishna says that, but everyone one have their own version of god and his miracles towards them Like how ISKCONis claim they brag that Krishna is the only way because they seem to think they were bullied by Shaivaites earlier claiming only Shiva to be supreme,if either gods existed they wouldve shown to the world who was supreme.Same thing with any religion. Its all like how one politician or movie star or any celebrity have his fan following these mythological characters carry their fans despite they not living right now and they never had these so called powers, history is different to mythologies which are allegorical... Guest guest
You are an ignorant person that has an axe to grind with ISKCON,s o just keeping talking junk about ISKCON. If you have so many problems with ISKCON, then just stay away from this forum. nekozuki
I actually know quite a few atheists who don't know science all that well and then they go around acting like they do. The fact that this universe is complex and structured should tell you something. Very few scientists disagree about the existence of God. There are very few atheistic scientists, the rest just do what they do: research.
