hate to always woof on this, but true science is aware of these higher puranic truths.

Ramayana tells the story of the Bear Generals and Monkey Commanders beginning to scour the planet, the four directions in this dimension (Symbolized by the four heads of this particular Lord Brahma.) One was directed to scour all the way to the great ocean of the west, to the great ocean of the east, south, and north. At audarya-fellowship, one would ask, there is no ocean to the north, thats russia.

However, true science indicates that all the land mass was connected, a supercontinent island. NASA shows these seven continents as, indeed, jigsaw puzzle pieces. India blew fast out of southern africa, with sri lanka following closely while india blew into asia. They left a contrail called madagaskar in their wake.

All these unexplained phenomena, pyramids in the US midwest, egyptian artifacts in polynesia, pantheistic similarities between the druids and maoris, all can be explained with the science of plate techtonics.

The discussion above is hard to understand if we are stuck in how things have been for the last thousand or three years. This is what is called a paridigm roadblock, a way of thinking that cannot accept further understanding. Such paradigms must be given up when approaching the Srimad Bhagavatam. Right at the first, we are told that even if such things seem imperfectly composed, honest folks will accept, giving up all their prejudices viewpoints.

This is why I always bring up velikovski. His version touches on puranic truth verified by planetary so-called catastrophy. His version explains the planet resting atop Mt. Meru, where Lord Brahma resides, the creator of humans. His version explains some of the exciting things we merely believe about Visnu Purana. And his version is not new, either, because the pictures are drawn on cave walls of europe, stacked stones and petroglyphs of polynesia, and depicted in NASA photos of the asteroid belt, the wobble of the earth, venus spinning backwards, half of mars face blown off.

The celestial aircraft that brings a piece of heaven to this planet, DNA as well as Mother Ganges, is siddhaloka, which rests atop Mt Meru. But when Kali Yuga began, we lost our vision, Siddhaloka took off, leaving asteroids as dust. Why hang here..

You're so right prabhu, it's a great relief to give up all these endeavours of explaining things into people's present brain capacity what is like beating an empty husk to get the grain. Material brains can only perceive material input - it's that simple.

It is not just others insufficent brain capacity ...it is our own that causes our frustration.

Although there're materialists who spent more time to live in the cyber-world of bits and bytes at http://secondlife.com/ than in their "real world"- fully identifying with a virtual avatar body, still materialists can't grasp the meaning that there're other realities beyond our brain capacity. Btw, didnt they open a Hare Krishna temple at secondlive.com?

Never heard of this site before. I'll check t out.

Just went there. I heard of this place watching the news on mt hypno-vision a few weeks back. It is naturally to want reject this false identities but they are just creating a new false dream identity to replace the one they have now.

This really happens all through our lifetime as we all try to change our way of thinking feeling willing or undergo cosmetic surgeries etc. Now cyberspace is accelerating that process for them. Krsna fulfills our desires. The truly intelligent will desire to wake uo to our eternal identity and be done with all this fantasizing and entering dreamworlds through wombs or an internet connection.

On top of Mount Meru, the Ganges divides into four branches, each of which gushes in a different direction [east, west, north and south]. These branches, known by the names Sītā, Alakanandā, Cakṣu and Bhadrā, flow down to the ocean.

Ocean? What Ocean? Are you saying the oceans on Earth? So then this Mt. Meru where Lord Brahma lives is in the Himalayas?

Ganga flows from the Causal (Karanada) Ocean outside our Universe down to the Garbhodaka Ocean which fills the lower part of this Universe

Doesn't appear to be speaking of an ocean at the bottom of the universe Kulapavanna.

Then it inundates the moon [Candraloka] and finally reaches Lord Brahmā's abode atop Mount Meru.

SB 5.17.5: On top of Mount Meru, the Ganges divides into four branches, each of which gushes in a different direction [east, west, north and south]. These branches, known by the names Sītā, Alakanandā, Cakṣu and Bhadrā, flow down to the ocean.

SB 5.17.6: The branch of the Ganges known as the Sītā flows through Brahmapurī atop Mount Meru, and from there it runs down to the nearby peaks of the Kesarācala Mountains, which stand almost as high as Mount Meru itself. These mountains are like a bunch of filaments around Mount Meru. From the Kesarācala Mountains, the Ganges falls to the peak of Gandhamādana Mountain and then flows into the land of Bhadrāśva-varṣa. Finally it reaches the ocean of salt water in the west.

SB 5.17.7: The branch of the Ganges known as Cakṣu falls onto the summit of Mālyavān Mountain and from there cascades onto the land of Ketumāla-varṣa. The Ganges flows incessantly through Ketumāla-varṣa and in this way also reaches the ocean of salt water in the West.

SB 5.17.8: The branch of the Ganges known as Bhadrā flows from the northern side of Mount Meru. Its waters fall onto the peaks of Kumuda Mountain, Mount Nīla, Śveta Mountain and Śṛńgavān Mountain in succession. Then it runs down into the province of Kuru and, after crossing through that land, flows into the saltwater ocean in the north.

SB 5.17.9: Similarly, the branch of the Ganges known as Alakanandā flows from the southern side of Brahmapurī [Brahma-sadana]. Passing over the tops of mountains in various lands, it falls down with fierce force upon the peaks of the mountains Hemakūṭa and Himakūṭa. After inundating the tops of those mountains, the Ganges falls down onto the tract of land known as Bhārata-varṣa, which she also inundates. Then the Ganges flows into the ocean of salt water in the south. Persons who come to bathe in this river are fortunate. It is not very difficult for them to achieve with every step the results of performing great sacrifices like the Rājasūya and Aśvamedha yajñas.

Ganga flows to the saltwater ocean in our world but it does not stop there. That celestial water continues it's journey to the lower worlds, eventually ending up in the Garbhodaka Ocean.

Ok. Whatever. I was only trying to point out some obvious questions that one should ask before swallowing such things as factual.

I just can't neglect to understand that the original Vedic version of the universe deals with the universe after it's initial inception and that billions and trillions of years have passed since the universe was created.

Thousands of universal dissolutions have occured since the original creation of the universe.

Many kali-yugas have come and gone since the original Vedic version of the universe.

For me, the Bhagavat cosmology is a mystical version of the universe from billions of years ago.

The universe is constantly growing and expanding and changing.

I don't care a fig to balance the original universe with the universe we live in today.

For sure it has changed, grown and evolved or devolved.

Bhagavat cosmology is a meditation on the virat-rupa.

Did Galileo trump the great sages of the Vedic age?

Not in my book.

A little man and his telescope cannot cancel out the Vedic universe.

Galileo was a cheater.

The Vedic sages knew about all the planets before the telescope was invented.

How did they know that?

vedanta-krid veda-vid eva caham. Krishna says, "I am the compiler of the Vedas and I am the knower of the Vedas."

This is how it could be that all those sages could know.:ponder:

Maybe... still, the Universe we see is just a fraction of what is really out there. When shamans enter the subtle netherworld it is no a mere halucination - they are truly in another reality.

Bhagavatam describes the Universe as seen by the yogis - many paralel realities sometimes converging and sometimes separating, according to the place, time, and consciousness.

There is one place in the Bhagavatam where Srila Prabhupada says the universe is 2,000,000,000 times 2,000,000,000 square miles not 2,000,000,000 plus 2,000,000,000 square miles.

So, that makes the universe 4,000,000,000,000,000,000 square miles.

(don't even know how to say that figure)

That not a little concept to grasp.

Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 2.5.40-41 purport,

All these planetary systems are scattered over the complete universe, which occupies an area of two billion times two billion square miles.

Hes not even talking the others. Remember when Lord Brahma was struck with wonder, when he went to see Lord Narayana, and the doorkeeper asked him "Which Brahma are you?" Then, all the brahmas came, couldnt even be counted. Lord Brahma is the Lord of the Universe, the Creator, but this is merely a fraction of all that is. He couldnt even count the heads of some of the other Lord Brahmas he saw, and these are all still reigning. How many Brahmas have come and gone, how many Indras have had their day.

Numbers mean nothing at this point.

I may have quoted this some months ago, but it is relevant here:

The Golden Volcano of Divine Love (page 128)

In different stages of consciousness, there

are different subjective realities. Everything springs

from the willpower of the Lord. He is the subject, and

His potency and sweet will is all subjective. The Lord

said, “Let there be light,”—and there was light. He

said, “Let there be water,” —and there was water. He

said, “Let there be earth,”—and there was earth. If,

like a hypnotist, the higher subject wants to make the

lower subject see something, he cannot but see that

thing. We are all in the subjective, imaginary world,

but above imagination is the supersubjective plane of

reality. So, Krishna reveals Himself to one who has

developed pure consciousness, and in the stage of pure

consciousness one can perceive the true nature of subjective

reality (sattva˜ viÍuddha˜ vasudeva-Íabditam).

***

Let's remember the Grand Magician here!

The Lord can make us and all of our instruments see whatever He wants us to see. Just because we can measure something doesn't mean that it's real or that it is as it appears to be.
