krsna
It is said that a single pure devotee of the Lord can deliver all the fallen souls of the world. Thus one who is actually in the confidence of a pure devotee like Narada or Sukadeva Gosvami and thus is empowered by one’s spiritual master, as Narada was by Brahmaji, can not only deliver himself from the clutches of maya, or illusion, but can deliver the whole world by his pure and empowered devotional strength… A powerful pure devotee of the Lord, however, can deliver not only his personal self but also many others in his association. …devotional service to the Lord is so powerful that it can cleanse the hearts of the people in general, by the devotional service of the pure, empowered devotee. A true representative of the Lord like Narada, Sukadeva Gosvami, Lord Caitanya, the six Gosvamis and later Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and Srimad Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, etc., can deliver all people by their empowered devotional service. By sincere efforts to hear Srimad-Bhagavatam one realizes his constitutional relationship with the Lord in the transcendental humor of servitude, friendship, paternal affection or conjugal love, and by such self-realization one becomes situated at once in the transcendental loving service of the Lord. Not only were all the pure devotees like Narada self-realized souls, but they were engaged in preaching work automatically by spiritual impetus, and thus they delivered many poor souls entangled in the material modes. They became so powerful because they sincerely followed the Bhagavatam principles by regular hearing and worshiping. By such actions the accumulated material lusts, etc., become cleansed by the personal endeavor of the Lord within the heart. The Lord is always within the heart of the living being, but He becomes manifested by one’s devotional service. (from SB 2.8.5 purport) empowerment of devotees — by sincere efforts to hear Srimad-Bhagavatam and by sincerely following the Bhagavatam principles. Could it be that people became so foolish - inapprehensible foolish? Basically all the ancient cultures of antiquity could grasp the understanding that there's an immortal soul and that this present body is a temporary covering. But already to put this simple knowledge into action is beyond the means of present civilization. They change body when sitting in a car and turning the ignition key, they move in a different body, in a car's body. However, when Bhagavad-Gita says, you're changing your body when your present body becomes old and useless, their brains have a sudden power blackout. Natural born atheists. It is said that cats and dogs can't understand, only human beings can understand, but where're human beings?

Natural born atheists. . . . where're human beings? ------------ It is very scary to think of so-much effort going toward nothing. I sincerely and somberly state that [aside from sastra telling us that hypocritical quarreling will be the status quo in Kali-yuga] stupidity is on the rise. Stupidity on a scale we have never known or expected except in fiction— 'Reality is now stupider than fiction.' I wrote recently that children are growing up with 'incongruities' all around, which will then allow for 'living a lie' through-out their lives. Their so-called cultivation of material sciences result in the population meeting head on with 'stupid-karma' . Bad karmic activities that were once ascribed to lustful-neglectful enthusiasm may now be ascribed to stupidity par excellence. Indeed, I've been contemplating the subtle difference between legal 'ignorance' vs. socially acceptable 'stupidity'. 'We have met the enemy, and they are … hell-bent self-hating suicidal Yamaduta-wanna- bes' Hitler, Stalin, Polpot, Vlad the Impaler (the Romanian Count Dracula), Herod, etc., felt they where entitled to seek victory at all costs—this is called 'megalomania' . But today, public enemy(s) number one are people in the grossest level of maya doing the stupidest things for reasons that they themselves cannot articulate except by way of the most absurd self-absorbed petty logic. Lastly, I have personally seen so much abuse of so-called intelligence, or should I say so much enabling of stupid actions by well-meaning individuals. All I mean to say is that a typical school graduate is more unfortunate than past 'miserables' who were born destined to suffer in great world conflagrations— so we all must be more expert than ever before inorder to make are case for cow protection. --Bhaktajan PS: Caroline Myss PHD, is a great [non-sectarian] speaker on the topic of an individual's vocation and its relation to archetypal propensities, along with the link between health and the associated subtle attributes of the chakras. >>
