tegramon
In the west, there exists many different forms of yoga practiced. One of them is tantra yoga. The problem is that no master untill our times, recommended the tantra yoga in a s*xual, ero**c way. No master accepted that through the union of the man and women in a pure carnal way, one can see god. And in spite of this, many western school of yoga exist that preach this. My question is, is there any ancient text that implies or tells that through the union of male and female, one can achieve moksha, as many contemporary masters claim? Shivaduta
Every path leads to god... anythign done with total dedication and love can lead to godhood... you have to only look up the story of the sati mahananda... she was a sati same as Uma, Seeta, savitri... Mahananda was a prostitute... yet she lived a very austere life and she accepted any one who came to her as a form of lord shiva... She was a sati because whoever she slept with in her mind it was always lord shiva that she was pleasing with her body...one day to test her lord shiva himself appeared as a beggar with leprosy... (in those days leprosy was a feared damnation) sati Mahanda looked at him and took him into her house... shiva was pleased to see the love that the woman treated him with in spite of him being a leper... xexon
Because the west is under the sway of Christianity, things of a sexual nature in regards to religion are frowned upon. Most would see it as a perversion. Tantric yoga, while many people are attracted to it, can never find public acceptance in the west. The terms male and female are symbolic, not physical. They represent the soul and the almighty. The complete fusion of the two are what you would call saints. A mature soul. x
bhaktajan
Monkeys & Rabbits have more sex then humans--for humans this is called gratification of the senses. The intelligence and the spirit soul are not satisfied by sex, only the ego is addressed in excess sexual engagements. ............................................................................................................................. Sri Isopanisad #13: It is said that one result is obtained by worshiping the supreme cause of all causes and that another result is obtained by worshiping what is not supreme. All this is heard from the undisturbed authorities, who clearly explained it. Purport by Bhaktivedanta Swami: . . . Nowhere in authentic scriptures is it said that one will ultimately reach the same goal by doing anything or worshiping anyone. Such foolish theories are offered by self-made “spiritual masters” who have no connection with the parampara, the bona fide system of disciplic succession. The bona fide spiritual master cannot say that all paths lead to the same goal and that anyone can attain this goal by his own mode of worship of the demigods or of the Supreme or whatever. bija
tegramon, I was reading a tibetan text translated by the dalai lama onetime. It mentioned tantra and sex, and he said only very advanced practicioners could do this. He was referring to tantra you have asked about.
