sambya
many a times i have heard devotees from isckon refer to durga as demigod.how can krishna's shakti be termed as demigod???
arasel
For shakta, Shakti is Supreme. For others, Vishnu is Supreme. For Shaiva, Krishna is only a Vishnu avatar, a small demigod. So the idea of Durga as demigod is wrong. And yes, that mouvment is a sect. They believe in Krishna. Let them adore God as Krishna. If you are a Shakta, let Durga be Supreme. Such comparators who put Devi or Shakti bellow Supreme are bad ways. The man who realizes the yoga knows Shiva and Shakti are One. Krishna and Radha are One. And so is told in Tantras. Every mahavidya also is adored with a masculine aspect, only Dhumavati is known as a "Widow" because her husband is beyond categories and principles (Paramashiva). In fact, the biija mantra for Krishna (see note bellow) is given as the one of Tripura Sundari. How can then be Shakti put on a lower state? Let those people fail in their understanding and keep a clear, equal respect for Shiva or Shakti, because those principles cannot be separated ever. Note: We read this in PRANATOSHINI (praa.nato.si.nii -4- kaamyakaa.n.da) "ka kaamadeva udi.s.to.apyathavaa k.r.s.na ucyate | la indra ii tu.s.tivaacii sukhadu.hkhaprada~nca a.m | kaamabiijaartha.m uktaste tava snehaanmahe"svari ! | klii.m || " See source text http://www.muktabodhalib.org/SECURE/SHAIVA%20PUBLISHED%20TEXTS/PRANATOSINI/PRANATOSINI_4_KAMYAKANDA/Pranatosini_4_KamyaKandaVELTHIUS.txt

bhairo
they would never see god they are just like some christians always condeming other ppl's belief. anyone of the devi;s or duetas could lead you to mokhsa because all of them are the same one god just in different aspects. in the vedas they call the supreme the devine paramatma. just like there are many roads to lead you in the heart of a city so there are many paths to get moksha but condeming is not one. sambya
When some vaishnav scholars derogate devi they overlook the varahi(shakti of varaha),naarasinghi(shakti of narasimha),idrani(shakti of indra),narayani(shakti of narayan) and many other suchlike dities. These deities all proove that devi is the para prakriti, other side of purusa. By derogating the energy(shakti) you derogate the energetic(shaktimaan) and commit an offense. if you say that durga or yogamaya is demigod then you are reducing the the energy of krishna to the level of demigod. Then krishna himself fail to qualify as godhead. For someone whose one half is demigod cannot be absolute, and hence not god. what need to be condemmed is the vaamachari hypocrites and their corrupt sadhana in name of devi. Bee
There is nothing wrong with praying to Krishna, but do not involve yourself with ISKCON or any missionary movement like it. Many missionaries behave as if we are not God Conscious until we see things THEIR way, because only THEIR way is the right way. And if we don’t see things THEIR way, then WE must be stupid. Ravindran Kesavan
It all depends which book one reads and believes in. According to goddess mythology, the ten incornations of Vishnu are created by the Goddess Tripurasundari from her ten finger nails.
