You missed the point, anyway in my personal opinion the Hare-Krishnas or Swami Narayans are not hindus, I'm saying this coz I personally know some HKs & SNs & I know what they believe in. I'm born Hindu & in India & I still donno who or what's Swami Narayan & on this forum some people claim he's the Supreme being, as for Hare-Krishnas they've really made an Abrahamic tyrannic god out of Krishna.

Swami Narayan is supreme to those who worship him most, Krishna is supreme to the Hare Krishnas who worship him most, Shiva is Supreme to the Shivates who worship him most. Most of them focus all their energy on one God. To me they are Hindus if that is how they want to define themselves, but I dislike the fact that they preach. It just doesn't seem like a Hindu kind of thing to do.

There were so many people who have agreed with your assessment:

The Persians,

Alexander the Great,

the Huns from Central Asia,

the Muslims,

the moghuls,

Thomas the Apostle,

The Portuguese,

the French,

the British,

Bollywood.

The only people who have thought to spread Krishna's Fame were people like Paramahansas --so we can feel relieved that others will appear to do the grunt work.

The sun'll come out

Next kalpa

Bet your bottom dollar

That next kalpa

There'll be sun!

Just thinkin' about

Next kalpa

Clears away the cobwebs,

And the sorrow

'Til there's none!

When I'm stuck with a day

That's gray,

And lonely,

I just stick out my chin

And Grin,

And Say,

Oh!

The sun'll come out

Next kalpa

So ya gotta hang on

'Til next kalpa

Come what may

Next kalpa! Next kalpa!

I love ya Next kalpa!

You're always

A day

A way!

Yes but did they force anyone to listen them in the middle of the street? No. What I mean is that it is a bad idea to preach to those who don't want to listen to it. I hope they don't start going door to door. Religion is not a business product and I wish they'd stop treating it like one.

I do agree with the way you framed the words of your opinion.

Such a thing would appear to be true for any such person who appraoches you for theirown ulterior motive.

For example, gypsy children [or similar] asking for alms [or similar] from tourists, or Tram beggars, or street vendors hawking ware by Barking loudly, or television sponsers at sport event half-time shows--or sitting with your mum watching the telly and Viagra Ads explain when and if you should call a physian "for help".

So it appears that the discipline of seeking donations in exchange for sublime sastra defining definitively the path of the King of Yoga (Bhakti-yoga) is for the benefit of the Krishna Devotee's tapasya/penance/karma/dharma etc.

I am a vegetarian because I don't want the bad karma--I hardly could give a farthing what the beastly animals comfort & suffering is --I abstain from flesh products for my own selfish sense of self-preservation.

A devotee preaches to purify himself by seeing the ugra-karmic logic of the common karmi's reaction to being presented a chance to receive the Vedas Par excellance in the form of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami's merciful translations.

I advocate direct marketing of KC to notable people by way of grass roots efforts by individual devotees, speaking from their own vantage points, where ever they are, to affect a change of heart among the leadership of Karmis of the greater world out there.

Swami Narayan is supreme to those who worship him most, Krishna is supreme to the Hare Krishnas who worship him most, Shiva is Supreme to the Shivates who worship him most.

The gist of Advaita Vedanta is to realise that Shiva & Vishnu (Krishna) are One & the same. This is true Hinduism.

Preaching can be also seen as teaching, trying to help by providing knowledge.

People surely need help and are confused about what is the goal of life.

Today I read a religious magazine and was astounded what they say how the spiritual world looks like, see pics below.

This looks rather like vedic farming and not like the spiritual world. But how can people get the right description if nobody is telling them?

What was this religious magazine? This art work is far out psychedelic. Hmm it seems they forgot to put God in the pictures though.

Thanks AncientMariner, but you just preached when explaining that Prabhupada did a great job.

In fact since this can be read by 6 bio people, you're a world preacher, no more waiting for another lifetime.

Thanks Suchandra but you have done a far better job of carrying on the divine legacy of Srila Prabhupada than I could do in a million lifetimes. I am just an observer and really don't care if people become Krishna Conscious or not. My attitude has always been if people are not interested then screw them. No compassion there. You have the compassion that is part of the divine legacy of Srila Prabhupada.

i feel that the idea of preaching is actually a idea of hatred.for you cannot 'preach' unless you hate all other paths and convince yourself that yours is the only path.one should sing praises of his lord or glorify him,but why 'preaching'?? isn't it very similar to those colonial christian missionaries who came to india to deliver the infidels?isnt it all about showing absolute disrespect about all other beliefs?one should expose his beliefs before everyone,so that anyone interested might follow, but why impose it??

I have got the previlige of reading all the feedbacks regarding Preaching. Preaching in itself means trying to bring the other to your level. That means to say that when a man feels that he "knows all" his overconfidence makes him to preach so that he will be in a position to counterlogify the other beliefs and make others believe that his path is the only way. This is not called Intelligence but height of foolishness in the spiritual circles.

The Muhammadis(Prophet Muhammed), The Christians(Jesus Christ), The Buddhists(Gautam Buddha), Jews(Zarathustra) etc had only One Origin as their Base. That was their Preacher. That is the reason why Preaching was more necessary to them. That is the sole reason why Hinduism do not believe in Preaching. But offlate, religious gurus have started preaching like the Sai Baba of Puttaparthi, the Kalki Cult and many more.

The ISKCONites believe in copying a Prabhupada by just imitating his every step. They believe more in becoming other than being themselves. Again, its the belief in a Preacher.
