Caitanya Mahaprabhu spoke:

kiba vipra, kiba nyasi, sudra kene naya

yei krishna-tattva-vetta, sei ‘guru’ haya

“Whether one is a brahmana, a sannyasi or a sudra—regardless of what he is—he can become a spiritual master if he knows the science of Krishna.”

na sudrah bhagavad bhaktasthe'pi bhagavatottamah

sarva varnesu te sudra ye na bhaktah janardane

sat karma nipuno vipro mantra tantra visradah

avaisnavo gurur na syad vaisnavah svapaco guruh

maha kulaprasuto'pi sarva yajnesu diksitah

sahasra sakha dhyayi ca na guruh syada vaisnavah

vipra ksatriya vaisyas ca guravah sudra janmanam

sudras ca guravas tesam trayanam bhagavat priyah

"Those who have taken recourse to the devotion of Krsna are never to be considered as
sudras
but they are to be glorified as bhagavatas. Amongst all castes, those people who are devoid of devotion to Lord Janardana are
sudras
. A
brahmana
who is expert in the six works and also in mantras and the tantra should not be selected as a guru if he is a non-vaisnava. If someone from a dog-eater family is a vaisnava he may be accepted as a guru. Even if one is born in the best of families, even if one is initiated in all the sacrifices and is learned in all the branches of the Vedas, if he is a non-vaisnava he is unable to become a guru. Generally,
brahmanas
,
ksatriyas
and
vaisyas
should be the gurus of
sudras
but even
sudras
can be the gurus of these three castes if they are dear to God." (
Amrta-pravaha Bhasya
of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura)

It is clear from the words of Srila Bhaktivinoda and Srila Sarasvati Thakura that any Vaisnava, irrespective of his birth and caste, is eligible to become guru if he has the necessary adhikara. The transcendental diksa-mantras are not the sole property of a particular class of men. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu has said that anyone who knows the science of Krsna is qualified to be guru. If one says that it is imperative that the guru must be born in a brahmana family, he has clearly not understood the science of Krsna consciousness and is therefore unqualified to initiate disciples.

Try to learn the science of Krsna. As you progress on the path, you will find the world will be full of Guru just like the Avadhuta with 24 Gurus in the Bhagavatam. Receive Diksha from one who is dedicated to the service of Sri Hari, whose activities are centered around Sri Hari and who is enthusiastic in spreading awareness of Sri Hari.

Gain entrance to the vast mercy of the Parampara system through sincerely receiving diksha.

Hi

If you need a guru to start you on your path, there are many swamis. You can start with sai baba, shirdi baba, nithiyananda, so many and the list goes on.

As you start the journey of knowing yourself through meditation, if you have the commitment to learn more and go deeper and enjoy meditating, then ask in the deepest moment of your meditation for the satguru.

When the time is right you will be lead to the satguru. You do not have to pay a single cent to be graced in his presence. The satguru will give you what your soul and you want.

All satgurus have a lineage, is the conduit asking from the supreme father forgiveness to our mistakes from the past to the present, lots of deep divine knowledge and lots of love to give. Your only commitment is meditation and living a truthful life. :)

I see many of these fallen devotees here in tiruvamaniia India where I am preaching daily to Mayavadis. They tell me over and over again their stories how they get even more juice with their mayavadi program then from their unqualified Gurus in bhakti yoga circles. Prabhupada is very juicy and if you find real sincere followers of SP they are juicy also and enjoyable to serve with.

Thank you for that Gaurahari das; I enjoyed that!

xyz_1, it might help narrow your search by considering what is possible

in your particular situation at this particular time. The original idea of

guru shishya is for the disciple to live with the guru under his direct tutelage.

Such an association is very powerful even when words are not spoken.

This mentor-protege relationship is the very essence of the process.
