mylilangel
hi, I posted a similar request a few months back and got some valuable advice from all the wonderful people here. Please go to the link below: http://www.indiadivine.org/audarya/vedic astrology-jyotisha/448425-learning-astrology.html To begin with, I personally would strongly recommend the book by Dr David Frawley as suggested by ppenaji in the thread above. classic72
Dear leo_83, For beginners in Astrology the usually recommended books in sequence are as follows. Astrology for Beginners Dr. B V Raman Hindu Predictive Astrology Dr. B V Raman How to Judge a Horoscope 1 and 2 Dr. B V Raman Notable Horoscopes Dr B V Raman After this - you will be knowledgeable enough to find your preferences. "Vedic Astrology an Integrated approach" by PVR Narasimha Rao is highly recommended. For people with good internet access PVR Narasimha ji's mp3 lessons from Boston are invaluable source of learning material. Type SJCBoston in google for link. It is always advisable to find a Guru to get you started on this. The person initiating you into this may not have end-to-end knowledge of Jyotisha - but who knows is strong on fundamentals/basic, fair amount of predictions, analysis. Some person who can sit with you and explain these concepts in the beginning. Even if it is for few days. It would also be beneficial to have somebody (Person) to go to if you have any questions while reading books. Classic72

classic72
Buying B V Raman books on the internet or in regular stores (in India) is not a problem at all. His books are the mostly widely available and most importantly very affordable. I have read many other authors in the last 10-12 years but B V Raman's beginner books make the basics very simple to grasp. The sequence will also be useful in stepping up the ladder. After a year or two, you can graduate to an author of your personal preference. Some style of writing that makes more sense. For basics it is always B V Raman.
