13thMonkey
I found this article interesting in that the story is very similar to that of Boudica (the first queen of England). The story of Boudica is as follows. She was the queen of the Iceni tribe. When her husband passed away the local Roman rulers decided she would not inherit her husband's estate. They ended up brutalizing her daughters. She then amassed an army and slaughtered the Romans, ultimately dying on the battlefield. Years later she was posthumously crowned the first queen of England. So here is the Indian equivalent. Lakshmibai was the wife of the King of Jhansi. When he died the British rulers decided his adopted son was not sanctioned, and usurped his kingdom. Queen Lakshmibai then assembled an army and fought for her kingdom, ultimately dying in battle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rani_Lakshmibai Its interesting how what goes around comes around. Very close to the same story, with the Romans brutalizing the English, then the English brutalizing the Indians. I think this story would probably make for a good movie.
