Diwali Puja Muhurthas (2007) According to Dharma Sindhu and Nirnay Sindhu, when amavasya is pradoshakala vyapini take that one for the lakshmi puja, if it on both days take the second day, even if it prevails for one ghatika (24 minutes). Lakshmi pujan needs to be done during pradosha kala and sthira lagna and sthira navamasha needs to be taken for lakshmi puja. The muhurthas given below have vrishabha lagna and 14 degrees of sthira navamansha which is also pushkaramsha and vargottami lagna. Please do not go for chaturthagatika (chogadia) for lakshmi puja muhurtham. As Chauturthagatika is used only for travelling muhurtham not for any other auspicious occasion but its simplicity has made it more popular. You'll notice here some places two dates. Please take the first date whenever possible because that is the best time. This muhurtha is for Diwali 2007 only. If you notice that people living in pacific time zone or hawaii they do celebrate diwali on 9th but lakshmi puja on 8th. The reason being that is certain things related to festivals has to be done at certain time, Lakshmi puja for example during pradosha kala (144 minutes after sunset), and oil bath and going to temple in the morning, hence for certain regions amavasya doesn't prevail during pradosha kala on November 9th and on November 8th Pradosha kala time amavasya prevails along with sthira vrishabha lagna and sthira vrishabha navamansha, hence certain areas lakshmi puja is on 8th and diwali celebrations on 9th, for others everything is on 9th November. Please make sure to clean your house on 10th early morning (two to three hours before sunrise) to welcome lakshmi on kartika pratipada day. I have attached simple lakshmi puja procedure . Please remember it is very short procedure to perform puja at your home. The procedure is made short so samskrit pronouciation mistakes can be avoided. You can add more mantras if you know how to chant them correctly. For example, lakshmi saharanaama strotram, srisuktam etc... Alternatively, you can play CDs for aarati or these mantra if available. Please scroll down to your city to find your muhurtha. You will also notice that why muhurtham prepared in india cannot be applied here as you yourself will see the difference in timings, hence just subtracting the time difference is not enough. Longitude and Latitude of the place also plays crucial role. Please note daylight saving time has been adjusted for American and Canadian cities, for other countries please add or subtract daylight saving time if applicable.
