Mahakaal, beyond time and death

In Sanskrit, Kaal means time or death and the word Mahakaal refers

to someone who is beyond time and death. Lord Shiv, who is one of

the trinity gods, is also known as Mahakaal.

 

Everybody, who is born, has to die. Though death is the beginning of

new life, there is nothing special in dying. Death is not

completeness, death is not the desired destination, death is decay.

Our actual goal is to lead life to completeness, to salvation. And

for that, we must tame death.

 

This rare, difficult and intense ritual is capable of defeating

death. Death will not touch a person armed with the immense power of

this ritual unless that person wishes otherwise. This capability is

called Ichchha Mrityu. According to ancient Indian epic, Mahabharat,

Bheeshma Pitamah had this ability. He led his almost two centuries

long life to compleness, ended it at his own will and became

immortal in history.
