Guest guest Posted September 30, 2004 Report Share Posted September 30, 2004 Goddess Chhinnamasta is the most mysterious and the most rewarding of the ten mahavidyas, the ten most powerful goddesses of tantra. The knowledge of this goddess and the ritual to get her blessings, which is very difficult, is not known to many which adds to the fear for her. That's why most people prefer to stay away from her. Chhinnamasta means the goddess who has beheaded herself. It is believed that even a slight mistake in her worship may get the worshiper beheaded. Though, it's just a myth. Like most mahavidyas, Goddess Chhinnamasta, too, has a unique and fearsome appearance. Those who do not understand actual meaning of her appearance may find her horrific and terrible. She is naked because she is devoid of all coverings of illusion. She has severed her own head which means her worshipers must get rid of their egos. This also means detachment from the earth, her gravity and all wordly things after which one progresses spiritually and gets the strength to grasp all super-natural powers granted by the goddess like the power to become invisible, the power to fly, the power to get anything out of thin air and the power to be at many places at once. The goddess also blesses her worshiper with happiness, victory, success, health, wealth and knowledge. Method of performing this ritual Around midnight, after bathing, wear clean, black dhoti and sit facing south on a woolen mat with your legs folded. Purification Take some water in your left palm and sprinkle it all our your body using fingers of your right hand while chanting this: Om Apavitrah Pavitro Vaa Sarvaavasthaam Gatoapi Vaa.Yah Smaret Pundareekaaksham Sa Baahyabhyantarah Shuchih. Digbandhan Take some unbroken rice grains in your left palm, cover it with your right palm and chant: Apasarpantu Ye Bhootaa Ye Bhootaa Bhoomi Sansthitaah,Ye Bhootaa Vighnakartaarraste Nashyantu Shivaagyayaa.Apakraamantu Bhootaani Pishaachaah Sarvato Disham,Sarveshaamvirodhen Poojakarma Samaarabhe. Then, throw the rice grains in all directions. Viniyog Take some water in your right palm and chant: Asya Shirashchhand Mantrasya, Bhairav Rishih, Samtrat Chhand, Chhinnamasta Devata, Hreem Beejam, Swaha Shaktih, Abheesht Siddhyarthhe Jape Viniyogah. Mantra Jap Now, chant 51 rounds of the following mantra using Black Hakeek rosary (made of 108 beeds) before dawn: Shreem Hreem Kleem Ayeim Vajra Vairochaneeye Hum Hum Phat Swaha After that, offer the mantra jap to Goddess Chhinnamasta. You should not chant either too fast or too slow and should complete the ritual before dawn. Repeat the ritual every night for six months while remaining celibate and avoiding non-veg food, alcohol, smoking etc. Please, note. This ritual is not for beginners. It works quickly and can be fatal if not done properly. If you are new to advanced tantra, DO NOT attempt this ritual. You should always consult your Guru (spiritual teahcer) before commencing any ritual because without a Guru, you'll never be successful no matter how hard you try.
