Guest guest
Some time back there was an extensive discussion in this Group regarding Navarna Mantra, Akshar Counting and Tantrokta Pronunciation. Here are my 2 cents on the subject...II ॠठहà¥à¤°à¥€à¤‚ कà¥à¤²à¥€à¤‚ चामà¥à¤‚डायै विचà¥à¤šà¥‡ II This is called Navarna Mantra i.e., Nine-lettered Mantra.II ॠनमः शिवाय II This is a Panchakshari Mantra.II ॠघृणी सूरà¥à¤¯ आदितà¥à¤¯à¤ƒ II This is an Ashtakshari Mantra.1. Please note that The Pranav (Omkar) is not counted while counting the alphabets of any mantra........thus, giving names to these quoted mantras as Navarna or Panchakshar or Ashtakshar and similarly any other mantra.2. While pronouncing any Mantra with an Anuswaar (ं), the normal colloquial pronunciation is with 'Makar'......when this is pronounced in 'Gakar' makes the Mantra Tantrokta (as was pointed out by Arif ji). This Statement is best Experienced by attempting to do Jaap of any mantra that has more than 3 beejaaksharas. While taking it from Vachik to Upanshu to Manasik...One would readily "experience" how difficult it becomes when the pronunciation is turned into Tantrokta (Gaa-kaar) from Mantrokta (Maa-kaar).3. GURUDEV advised His Disciples to practice Navarna Mantra without the Pranav and with Tantrokta style pronunciation.Regards.
