Pranams Stuart,

Sometimes it can be latent pranas awakened by our practices. Sometimes there is a concrete physiological reason. The muscles of the anterior thigh conjoin at a single structure called the patellar tendon that stretches over the knee and connects the upper leg to the lower. It is the contraction or shortening of these muscles that cause the leg to straighten after it is bent. The leg when straight is the more neutral position. Aspects of age and physical conditioning can affect how tight the muscles are.

If you meditate in Vajrasana, or even in lotus or half-lotus the muscles of the frontal thighs are stretched (particularly if the position is new). This is more profound in Vajrasana as the full upper body weight is amplifying the stretch pressure on the muscles.

What you are experiencing may be nothing of the sort, but a brisk rubbing of the thighs with mild to moderate pressure from knees to groin before sitting to meditate may help to alleviate what you are feeling (if that is what you want).

I agree though, it IS all good.

{LAYA-YOGA-CHAKRAS}>OM: Feeling fire and heat

I've been having some sensations during sadhana of a fairly strongheat on the top of my legs, front of thigh. This happens inmeditation and it's always that conundrum where you know better toignore and let things happens and at the same time you become aware ofit and are intrigued. It's all good I suppose.Stuart
