Guest guest
The whole purpose of enlightenment is to go beyond purposes, goals, targets. The goal is to become like a branch floating on the river- the branch has no control over the river, & can be destroyed/swept away at the slightest turbulence. We are like that branch that tries to control the river, & make it bend to our will. But if the branch starts thinking it is not a branch, but the whole river, it no longer has to do anything- the river will always reach the sea-no mountain, rock or blockage can stop it. The purpose of enlightenment is to become like the river- flowing smoothly, no need to worry about goals, moksha, heaven etc. The river doesnt care about reaching someplace, or achieving anything- reaching the Sea is in its Nature, just as reaching to God is in our nature. The river always reaches the sea, if we only stop trying to struggle & control it.
Guest guest
Hearty Obeisance! To some extent you are right. But human has intellect and reasoning power with which, mind can not keep quiet and lay like inanimate log floating on water. Though human can not control the life force or social flow, he always try to escape from ditches and big stones. And for that purpose only our encestors have devised very good way of Sadhana. One has to merge in Devine Sea, no doubt, but not like a dumb log, but a fragrant flower that is offered at Lotus Feet, in a Garland on Chest or on Head, of the Supreme Ocean. Though all are on walking on highway, there is considerable diference between devotees, merchants, hawkers, beggers, farmers and all. The highway has nothing to do, the people trading over have to attain their goals and the goal of devotee is the highest. Hence Sadhana is must. Guest guest
> One has to merge in Devine Sea, no doubt, but not like a dumb log, but Thats why I say we have to become the river, not the log. The river here is Adi Shakti, & the ocean is ParaShiv. If you dont like this example, heres another one: Shakti is doing a Yagya for Shiv, we are just the Yajman(witness). But we get the results of the Yagya. We have to do Sadhna, but like Krishna said " He works in the World without doing anything " .
Guest guest
, " BHADRA RAO JANAGAM " <bjanagam wrote: > > If the purpose of the life is to get the enlightenment and > spirituality, what will be the purpose or need of life after attaining > the above mentioned for a human. ============================================= Thanks Badri ji, this is one of the most beautiful question ever asked on Sadhna board. The word Enlightenement has been mostly misunderstood by indians particularly Hindus. Even the world spiritual is not properly understood by us. to a common Indian a spiritual person is one who is an emotionless stone.... who lives away from society...doesnt care for the family, society and country. And an enlightened soul is one who is sitting in a postuer for years, who does not eat or drink and gives lottery ticket numbers, bless for getting children or cure diseases of his followers. Although these may be some of the qualities of such people, but these are certainly not sure signs of spiritual and enlightened. Enlightened in a very simple definition means, " the one who has realised his True self " . And it is certainly not necessary that this condition can be achieved by going to jungles and doing funny and difficult meditations. In our Indian society, the more one is cut of from society the more spiritual he is treated as. an idiot, wearing saffron and keeping his hand up for 12 years is treated as Enlightened. Enlightenment brings harmony with the universe. Enlightened souls have one SURE sign...they do not have any desires to fulfil their egos. they do whatever the Universal system asks them to do and they carry out the work, as an alive tool of the supreme. Now enlightened souls have fought Great wars and saved humanity from Negative energies....like shri Rama, shri Krishna, Hanuman, and in modern times Guru Gobind singh, Tantrik Banda Bairagi. enlightened souls have fought in the war of Independence and worked for the nation and for Humanity ..like Shri aurobindo Enlightened souls, went out to Foreign Countries and spread the names of Hinduism...told the world about hindus... Like Vivekananda, Yogananada.... Enlightened souls... stormed India and defeated all the wrong doers of Hinduism and brought them under the umbrella of real Sanatan Dharma - like Shankrayacharya. So a fighting person, a person arguing, a person storming the world, a person running orphanages, a person being imprisoned, a person sitting still in Himalayas... all may be enlightened persons. There is a shaloka in shruti which says... May we all see the light of the Truth...and then we may help otheres to see it. so the purpose of enlightenment is not running away from the World and become useless for the society...although some may do that too. enlightenment means becoming focus of the Divine in this material world...and carry out HIS desire through this body. ...without a desire and without ego...even if it is a war or a satsang...enlightened souls take part in it with divine love and without personal ego Aum
