Guest guest
Namashkar, There are many different types of Moksha, which lead to all sorts of arguments about whose path is the best.......al paths are good, they just lead to different types of Mokshas. Here are some: 1. Bhakti Moksha- In this Moksha, one merges into ones Ishta Devtaa. Instead of destroying the ego, it is merged with Ishwars- who can be Krishna, Shiv, Jesus, it doesnt matter. Now, since Ishwar is already free from Maya, by merging into Him, you too become free. Here are 2 further options- one can either merge completely, or keep slight separateness. The 2nd condition is very hard for us to understand- in it one is both God & Human at same time- you keep your individuality, but your conciousness is always connected to Gods. This type of Mukti is for those who want to come back to help World, as Gurus or Avtaars. 2. Complete destruction of Ego- In this type of Moksha, one slowly dissolves ones ego, till like a drop of water merges in ocean, nothing remains of your " Self " , & you vanish out of existence. This is technique of Vedant & Buddhism, though they use different words, like Radha said, merging into Everything or Nothing. 3. Prakriti Laya or Videha- In this, one completely destroys ones Karma & all attachments. One feels like the whole Universe- it is the Pure Ego that no longer identifies with body, but with whole universe. This is state of Prakriti or Shakti, & such souls merge into her. But this is a lower level Mukti, as one has to be reborn when Universe is created again. Raman Maharishi was classic example of this- he attained Brahm Gyan at age 16 in only 5 minutes. Thats because he had just come to finalise his Mukti. 4. Permanent rebirth in Higher worlds- Most people take Moskha as freedom from rebirth. This can be had with much simpler methods- we only take birth due to physical desires. If these could be destroyed through different techniques, there would be no birth on physical plane. Though you will still have subtle desires, you will have to be reborn in Astral world as Deva, but since the have no misery, its not a bad deal. This is technically not Moskha- but most people(90% Ive met) think Moksha is freedom from pain, tension, misery of physical world. This can be had by much easier techniques of becoming a Deva. This is actually what most people want, though their ego wont admit it. 5. Moksha of the Siddhas/Sri Aurobindos Purna Yoga The Siddhas gave a completely new idea- you merge into the Brahm, the Universal Spirit, & then bring the Light from that into this body & world, & become Perfect. Traditional Vedant/Buddhism dont allow this- as they clearly say once you merge into the Void or Brahm, there is no coming back. But the Siddhas said that yes, you can return. After returning, your body becomes Divine, everything you do, its the Divine working through you. Thats why I said the Siddhas are even above the Gods- as the Gods represent one part of the Divine. The Siddha represents the Divine in all its glory. Marshall Govindan, in his book Babaji & 18 Kriya Yoga Siddhas, shows that what Sri Aurobindo was saying was very close to what the Siddhas had been saying, everyone from Gorakhnath to Tirumular to Babaji himself. The only difference was, the Siddhas believed in personal attainment though Yogic discipline, Aurobindo tried to bring a more general approach that anyone could do(although it is as difficult, if not more, than the Siddhas Yogic methods). These are the main types of Moksha, that everyone will aim for. But as the saying goes, You dont choose the Path, the Path chooses you.
