Guest guest
The Character of 'Karna' is the most fascinating one in Mahabharata. Karna 's father was none other than Surya Bhagwan and his mother was Kunti devi, THE MOTHER OF PANDAVAS . Karna was born out of wedlock and he was brought up as a 'suta putra' by his adopted parents , who were fishermen. Although a KSHATRIYA by birth , he was shunned by one and all as someone belonging to a low caste . Even Dronacharya refused to teach him dhanur vidya. Parasurama also cursed Karna for masquerading as a brahmin and trying to learn dhanur vidya under a false pretext . Thhroughout his life , Karna was despised by everyone and the only person who showed him some compassion and kindness was Duryodhana who offered him a status by making the king of Anga . It is out of false sense of gratitude , karna joined hands with the evil Duryodhana , Dussashana and Sakuni. Many times , Karna advised Duryodhana TO GIVE UP HIS DECEITFUL WAYS and use valor and stregth to defeat the pandavas . But , Duryodhana preferred to listen to Sakuni than follow the honest ways of Karna . This Karna got stuck Kn the web of evil because of wrong association with the dusta trayam - duryodhana , sakuni and dussahasana . There is a buddhist saying which goes like this - " In the matter of a snake's venom and that of an evil man, An evil man is more venomous than a snake, For the snake's venom may be overcome by drugs and spells but what can soothe the venom of an evil man? " So , Karna , who was basically a good man kept the company of evil men like Duryodhana , Dussashana and sAKUNI and got 'tainted' in the process ! Karna's story is a very tragic story - a real hero who became a villian by bad association and a false sense of loyalty ! a FALSE SENSE OF ATTACHMENT IS CALLED 'DURABHIMAANAM' ! ALSO , REMEMBER Karna's death was not brought about by Arjuna , the most skilled warrior ! His death was predestined and planned by Lord Krishna even before the Kurukshetra war began !! The parasurama curse , the Brahmin who asked for Karna's ear ornaments , the war chariot being stuck in the battleground and arArjuna shooting an arrow at an unarmed Karna etc are all deceitful war strategy adopted by none other than our Krishna bhagwaan! Chaturyam is often employed in war to defeat a powerful enemy! they say all is fair in love and war! so , folks , do not judge KARNA HARSHLY . hE IS JUST A GOOD SEED GONE BAD! hE NEVER EXPERIENCED A MOTHER'S LOVE ! His own mother pleaded with him to spare Arjuna's life ! What could be more tragic than this ?

Guest guest
aumji : your following statement made me think that you are sympathizing with ASHWATAMA 1) MOST PUNISHED WAS ASHWATHHAMA how was he most punished , aumji ? Ashwatama was a lowly character who deserved all the punishment he got , if any . and you call 2 Most cunning and cruel woman .........- Draupadi i am sorry , i do not think Draupadi is cunning and cruel ; rather she paid for the mistakes her husbands committed ! well, it is true ; uyou have your opinions , i have mine but we may agree to disagree ! smile :-) even on karna , there are two opinions - jitendra and i admire Karna some others don't ! anyway , i admire you honesty in allowing divergent opinions ; that is what makes 'Saadhnaa' an interesting group with great dynamics! cheers! language is tricky and sometimes we cannot convey all that we want to express! love

In fact when i say " Most punished " i am not appreciating him.... i am telling the fact. Think of Ashwathha living even now with the wounds and wandering in desolate places....whereas all his relatives and friends died 5000 years ago...and took new good births...and he is still in the same body and will remain in that body till the end of this chaturyugi. No one else was so severely punished... obviously for the bad karma he did..... being a Brahmin he should not have gone so low.. This is not appreciation..this is honest analysis. About Draupadi.. you will agree she was Mahakali incarnated to help Shri Krishna in the war of Mahabharat. Now Mother Kali in the war time is cruel too... same is with Draupadi... by forgiving Ashwatthama she actually punished him more than others..... telling that Mother Kali is ferocious or cruel or cunning with enemies.. is not condemnation ... it is a fact. Still these are my understandings.. and i dont expect any appreciation or approval from others.. sorry if it hurt you or any other Aum
Guest guest
babaji : thanks for understanding ! yes! ashwatama may be brahmin by 'birth' but by guna karma vibhaga , he was a 'pashu' or animal like ! i will post my views on Draupadi at a later time . We are in this group not for mutual admiration; we are here only for honest exchange of views and ideas. Ideas may differ and idealogies may be different but ultimately Truth triumphs ! that is why hinduism is called 'sanatana dharma ' - the eternal truth! It is all about 'love ! love of Truth! kabira sings Akath Kahani Prem Ki, Kutch Kahi Na Jaye Goonge Keri Sarkara, Baithe Muskae Inexpressible is the story of Love It cannot be revealed by words Like the dumb eating sweet-meat Only smiles, the sweetness he cannot tell love and regards , " Aum " <beirut_ka_baba wrote: > Urvashiji thanks for yr reply. What you call a brother who will burn his innocent brothers in the fire? What will you call a Maharathhi, who will kill a young boy (Abhimanyu) breaking all rules What will you call Karna, who would say a queen a " Prostitute " ?? What will you call Bhishma who kidnapped 3 innocent sisters against their wishes to get them married to his impotent brothers?? What would you call when a beautiful princess is forcibly married to an idiot and blind king ??? I have long back stopped counting their mistakes...because they were all puppets in the hands of Mahakaala and were playing their game honestly...as they were destined to do. (That does not mean i have sympathy for anyone...LOL...just a thought) Aum
Guest guest
And what will you call a Dharamraja if he stakes his wife in gambling and loses her to enemy ? What about all pandavas telling lie to DRONA about death of his son and then killing him ? aum you saw evils in kauravas only ? pandavas were also not " Doodh de dhule " ansuya , " Aum " <beirut_ka_baba wrote: >> What you call a brother who will burn his innocent brothers in the > fire? > > What will you call a Maharathhi, who will kill a young boy (Abhimanyu) > breaking all rules > > What will you call Karna, who would say a queen a " Prostitute " ?? > > What will you call Bhishma who kidnapped 3 innocent sisters against > their wishes to get them married to his impotent brothers?? > > What would you call when a beautiful princess is forcibly married to > an idiot and blind king ??? >

And yes I agree that Pandavas also did some mistakes.... but they never did a mischief. dont you agree mistake is better than mischief.... Pandavas were not conspirators or cunning... they were brave but straight mind people...that z why Krishna arranged them to marry Draupadi...an intelligent and beautiful woman, who could control them. i have clarified in my last post that except Krishna... i dont think anyone else needs appreciating.
