Guest guest
Jai Sri Ram. Dear members, These days you hear a lot about organic farming. It can be defined as the entire process of agriculture in a given area done exclusively with natural manure and natural pesticides. (and on the other hand completely eliminating syntheric fertilizers and pesticides). India was a world leader (and we still are) in the area of organic farming. Our forefathers knew how to take record harvests using bio manure using cow dung . The pesticide they used was pancha kavya- which is a mix of cow's milk , cow's ghee, curd, cow dung, and cow's urine. Coming to think of it , the cow was the centre point of agriculture. No wonder , it was a respected animal in India. The entire economy of rural India depended on cattle and farming. Without a cow, no family was complete. A man's wealth was measured by the number of cows he had. In addition to manure, the cow's milk was a much sought after food. Butter milk was (is) a famous health drink and even a poorest man prepares it and takes regularly. The cow is the most docile of all animals known to man. It is man's friend, wealth and spiritual companion. All great yogis, after having reached a stage when they could reflect on their past lives, found to their astonishment that , a recent birth of them was in the form of a cow ! But, how do we treat them? Old cows , after the milch period is over, are sold to moslems who take them in open trucks for days without food and water ! All the cattle farmers in India are Hindus and all the butchers are muslims. Will our mother nature forgive us ? How can any Hindu go to a Krishna temple when his pet animal is butchered in his own land ? How can a person go to Shiva temple, when the bull , his vehicle, is killed mercilessly after all its strength is sapped out in farming and cart pulling ? Will our Gods ever forgive us ? Think ! This is the only country that knew to thank the animals. But here , right in our midst, all these chaos are happening. Self respecting Hindus, awake ! Stop this killing. Even if it is at the cost of some of your savings, buy an old cow, save it, and protect it. If you are a city dweller, allocate some money each month , to give it to some goshalas, who are struggling to make the ends meet . There are many good goshalas. In my next post I will give the address of some. Meanwhile members can post on this and add whatever you want to. Guest guest
Dear devotees, May God bless us all with His kindness, Mother cow deserves worship. Worship means keeping in deep esteem. Cow`s milk is almost like mother`s milk in composition. Cow dung yields gobar gas or a cake to be used as a fuel.Bull draws carts heavily loaded with agricultural merchandice. Bulls plough fields for cultivation. Lord Krishna is variously called Gopala,Govardhana, as He protected the cows . His brother Balaram lead the agriculturists and symbolically has the plough as his main 'weapon " . Hinduism taught animal protection and habitat in unconventional but impressive way. See the following vehicles of Gods and Goddesses Yama- buffalo , Shiva- bull ,, Vishnu--eagle , Lakshmi--owl, Parvathi--Tiger, Saraswati--swan,, Peacock--Subrahmanyaswamy , Vighnesa--mouse , Indra --elephant,, Because Indra is not worshipped Elepant head of Vighnesa is worshipped, Sun -- horse etc Hinduism preaches science to those who do not go to school. Dear Bhaktas , I honestly feel the word VAANARAA in Ramayan refers to Vana (forest) +Nara(human) = men living in jungle along with or in close proximity of monkeys. Please five your valuable feedback. ijswamy Venkat <apexpreci2000 wrote: Jai Sri Ram. Dear members, These days you hear a lot about organic farming. Guest guest
> Hinduism taught animal protection and habitat in unconventional Yes Swamiji I agree. But it wasnt just about environment protection- it was about accepting we are part of a Whole, & that have to respect other parts of this Whole- including plants, trees, animals. Modern science says Nature is our slave, & we can exploit her all she wants. Ancient Indians said we are all children of Nature, & we have to treat other children with love & respect. We have no special right to kill, torture or exploit other species. A different viewpoint, but one that becomes increasingly more important. love Shantnu

I have seen if a child is sitting in the way, cow will, even if running, will avoid hitting the child, whereas the buffalow will not. cows calf are much more smarter than calfs of buffalo. If our rishis called cow a divine gift from god... they were not wrong Aum
Guest guest
Cow`s milk contains less protein ,less fat and less minerals than buffalo`s milk. Buffalo milk is encouraged only for commercial reasons. Cow - eats grass, bran and rice water thrown by households. Rice bran contans oil which is less harmful as clearly established by latest research.Cow`s milk has less protein as cow herself is a strict vegetarian. Cow`s milk also contains less minerals. This makes cow`s milk more dilute,so more easily digestible even by new born premature and low weight babies. Cow`s milk has slightly less lactose than mothers milk but is sweet. Mother`s milk is ideal for child but cow`s milk is the next best. Immediately after a woman delivers ,the first milk produced for upto five days is called colostrum. Colostrum contains special proteins which fight against bacteria and virus. So a CHILD SHOULD BE FED THIS COLOSTRUM MILK. However this special immunoglobulin is available only for five days. After five days cow`s colostrum should befed to human babies for rapidgrowth more so if the infants are premature or under weight. Cow`s colostrum is sometimes used by humans as a dietary supplement. It has been attributed with curative powers and used as an ingredient in food dishes for the ill or invalid. Purified cow`s colostrum extract is also sometimes used in protein supplements used by athletes and bodybuilders.
