Guest guest
I have been doing meditation for about 4 years now. But i got nothing. No visions, no dreams, no feeling of awakening. Is it because I have no guru or some other problem. Those who are doing meditation please share your insight with me. ansuya

Guru is quite important...but always having a human guru is not possible...and it is not a pre-requisite too, specially in todays times when we have ready-made, businessmen gurus promising enlightening in a few sessions, in return for a handsome amount!!! The real guru is always inside us... and we may see his reflection in a human guru, or a scripture or an ancient guru, not living now. So those who really wait for a guru never reach anywhere. There are many reasons for not getting progress...but first how you are sure there is no progress?? Suppose a window has seven heavy black curtains...and with great efforts you remove one curtains. Will there be light ?? NO !!! Then you remove another curtain...but still there is no light !!! So someone spends lot of labour and time removing six curtains...still finds no light. Can he say he is not making progress for getting light from the window ??? the light will be received only when the last curtain is removed... similarly we have multiple layers of karmic debts and Tamoguna....and till all of these are removed, we will not be able to see the light. But we can not say our labour is going waste. Even one step towards enlightenment works and Mother Nature takes note of that step. Long back i had written a small story, which further explained this phenomenon...let me write it again for you. Two sadhakas who were of the same age, same physique, started Kali sadhana. They got the same Mantra from same guru and started their sadhna in a shamshan at the same time. After long sadhna suddenly Mother Kali appeared. Seeing her fierce form, one sadhaka died instantly. The other though afraid, yet kept alive trembling with fear. Mother kali asked him for a boon. The sadhaka asked - Mother first explain to me...we both are of same age, we did same mantra for same time...but this friend of mine died after seeing you and you are asking me to get boon. Why you are so partial ? why not have kindness on this poor guy too ? Mother Kali smiled and said - My son i am not favoring you or being cruel to your friend. You have been doing my sadhna for the last 7 births and each time I appeared, you died out of fear...but started again in next birth. In this birth..now you have gathered enough courage to stand my fierce form. You friend has started my worship for the last 2 births only and died this third birth too. so i am not partial, it is strength of your own sadhna. I think this story is sufficient for all those who have any doubts about sadhna.... sadhana is not a sudden burst of emotional energies that we wake up and start worshipping God.... it is a matter of many births. We continue and when the strength of our sadhna has become very strong...God appears. God is waiting for us like a Mother waits for her child, who is sleeping in her lap...seeing dreams of demons and crying or seeing fairies and smiling.... but the Mother undeterred by the smiles or cries of the sleeping baby...waits for him to wake up and drink her milk....the nectar of divinity....dripping from her full breasts !!! I dont feel those years without these experiences were wasted at all. Its all part of the journey. Even without these experiences, meditation is still beneficial & worthwhile. We dont just meditate in the hope that one day these experiences will happen. Stay focused & keep on meditating. If these things happen one day, thats good & if they dont, thats also good. Dont attach yourself too much to what you want to achieve. " You have control over action alone, never over its fruits. Live not for the fruits of action...... " Bhagavad Gita And 'why is it not easy to find God?' Ha ha - I know you know the answer to that one! :-) With much love Farah
Guest guest
I was speaking on the phone to my mother a few weeks back. Perhaps she sensed similar thoughts going through my head. She suddenly started telling me a story: There was a farmer, who used to pray every day. All his life he had prayed to God, but he never saw any miracles. He started getting disenchanted, and doubting his faith.. He wanted to see concrete fruits from his prayers. He decided to go to a Tantric and ask him to show him some dark magic. The tantric reluctantly taught him some mantras. He said that the mantras would summon an evil spirit. He said the spirit would grant him his heart's desires. The man went back and every midnight got up and chanted the mantras. He kept it up for a whole year, then another, but nothing happened. Finally, he got disgusted, and complained to the tantric. The tantric was puzzled, the same night he summoned the spirit and asked him why he was not answering the farmer's summons. The evil spirit replied, I tried to approach the farmer every night for the past 2 years, but the power of his earlier prayers were so strong, I could not come near. they are a shield around him and I, or any other evil spirit, can never come near him. The truth is, oftentimes we don't see the results of our prayers, but they surround and envelop us. You leave a positive impact on everyone around you. A guru always helps, and I believe when the time comes, we will find one - especially using this forum:) Rgds , ansuya80 <no_reply wrote: > > I have been doing meditation for about 4 years now. Guest guest
The action of seeking God does not mean that one should also await the reception of siddhis. For why should we be on the spiritual path and looking for powers at the same time? One does not need to see into the future or the past; astral travel; levitate; or manifest objects. One seeks the Lord only for the reason that we are all one in the same. Why is it so hard to find God. Thou art God. Once awakened we are able to realize that we are that holy manifest of the Lord and the reason we could never find Him is because we looked to everyone and everything else except for our own self. Truly within there lies the answer. We must first selflessly take care of our selves so that we can clearly see that everything around is of that one true manifestation.
