In the mundane business of day to day living, such non involvement could also be dangerously close to either insincerety or schizophrenia. in which case, why take trouble to " act " at all ? Its all so perplexing.

Many of Ramana's Disciples (papaji, Arunachala Swamy, Om - a western disciple and many more ) have lived as the witness, so if X can Y should be able to.. Further your concerns of being ineffective and schizophrenic are unfounded as living as the witness will make you more effective and " in tune " with the whole... So the more you are a witness, the lesser the danger of Schizophrenia.... Being as the self is the simplest thing to do.. Like not holding a glass of water is easier than holding one....When one continues asking the question who is that who thinks, who is that who is acting, the witnessing becomes automatic. And Talking of Non involvement, in Ramana's own words, who is involved or non involved??? Once that question takes root, there is no trouble. Bala... Its >all so perplexing. Thats a good point, thrinohamji. None of us are Raman Maharishi, & we dont have the luxury of living on a mountain top(with chelas bringing food etc), where there is no tension or problems! Its hard to live in the world, with all its tensions, fights, & still be in Sakshi Bhaav. It has been done by what- 3 or 4 people(Janak & of course, Sri Krishna) in 1000s of years of history? Why are expecting ordinary people to follow such a high standard? They will fail, & may lose interest in spirituality. And for the ordinary man, the danger is, as you point out, that in their effort to become " Non-doers " , they may become puppets of hostile forces. How do we know that the Divine is acting through us, & not negative forces? The only way to know is to be in Sakshi Bhaav, but then this becomes a circular problem! So what is the solution for the ordinary person? I think the ordinary person should only try to do Sattvic action(as much as his Karma permits him). When the balance of energies, which includes his Karma, his families/countries Karma, his deep hidden desires, all have become balanced, he/she will automatically be in harmony with nature, which by Gods grace may lead to Sakshi Bhaav, or even complete Moksha. luv, Shantnu
Guest guest
ji, when it comes to perform material activity, the material activity devices like mind , intellect ,chitta etc come into picture. Either these are driven by pure ego or false ego , it matters nothing to these via media,s. when these activities are performed by pure ego " am " , they are influenced by purity and have no impact of creating new bonds. The pure ego influences simple life and leads to liberation. on the other hand when they are under influence of false ego, they create new bonds and new complex circuits which makes life more and more miserable. the third one is super ego and one can not work or perform material activity under it, since the one who is driving the body, mind, intellect and chitta is universal and not individual. If one has attained super consciousness all time, he is no more limited in one body. Those who have experienced super consciousness, have its influence on the material parts like mind , intellect etc, and follows the rules of nature, and has pure ego , the am, present.such people go to the status whenever they are free from material activity (as they wish) and experience the liberation, but again come back to pure ego status. Once the " am " is left, he is liberated, nothing can stop him and he can not be performing as an individual, its impossible. --- On Thu, 18/6/09, baby <balachand wrote: baby <balachand Re: How do we know it is not ego ? So " I " will be doing nothing, but God will. It is Egoless state that Great people like Ramana propounded. Ramana was active physically till his last days, but was all the while acting as the whole and not as the individual Ego sense.. Love Bala. ICC World Twenty20 England & #39;09 exclusively on !
