Om Gurave Namah

Namaste Narasimha,

I have tried a few times to download the Chandi Homa manual, but the file is corrupted and won't open. I see that someone on the Sohamsa list had the same problem, hopefully you could upload it again.

Thank you so much. I attended a wonderful Sudarshana abihishekam and homa yesterday at a temple in San Jose, and look forward to starting to do homas for myself.

Blessings,

Willa

Namaste Willa,

The file is alright. I downloaded it from the website to my office PC and my home PC. It opened fine and looks correct on both PCs. So the file itself must be ok. Both my office and home PCs have Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.

I am wondering if you and others who complained on other lists have an older version and my file requires a newer version. What is your Adobe Acrobat version? Can you try downloading the latest Acrobat? The link to download the latest Adbobe Acrobat Reader (I think version 9) is on the same homam manual page.

BTW, it is a good idea to do something simple like Mahaganapathi homam first before someone attempts Chandi homam.

Dear Sri Narasimha, namaste

1. With the latest version of Acrobat Reader (version 9), one is able to open the Candi homam procedure. But at 34 MB download, this is not a viable option for most people having limited access to internet service. If you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Professional, there must be some option available in that software which makes the pdf file openable by earlier versions of Acrobat Reader. Please use that option when creating your pdf file.

2. Thanks very much for the Chandi homam procedure. Approximately, how long would it take for a novice beginner?

3. Could you give the procedure for doing the anga nyasa, dik nyasa etc.? This would be a very useful addition to the procedure and would greatly benefit people like me who are more comfortable with transliterated versions of the mantras/shlokas in the Devi Mahatmyam. The Gita Press does not have a transliterated version of the Durga Saptashati currently.

best regards

Hari
